No, not really! All he was doing was raising his chances for her to say yes (Kinda cheating I guess). She could have said yes and then broke it off later instead of embarrasing him in front of the whole nation. But, because of the situation I guess she didnt have time to think.

yeah, surprises are awesome but something like that should only come when there is some confidence ... in other words, was he sure that she was ready for something like that?

I feel so sorry for that guy, rejected on national television. I guess he felt sure that she was ready or he would'nt have asked on T.V.
