Time Mag's Top 10 Games of '03 - Agree or Disagree?
1. Karaoke Revolution (PS2)
2. Soul Calibur II (GC, Xbox, PS2)
3. Republic: The Revolution (PC)
4. Tiger Woods 2004 (GC, Xbox, PS2)
5. Space Colony (PC)
6. Temple of Elemental Evil (PC)
7. Simpsons Hit & Run (GC, Xbox, PS2)
8. MYST: URU (PC)
9. Tron: 2.0 (PC)
10. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC)
http://general.gamerfeed.com/gf/news/4734/
I will admit Simpsons H&R is the best simpsons game out there, but better then Wind Waker?
But eh, this isnt really a gaming mag, they probably got feedback from regular gamers or something. (Too lazy to find out how they came to this conclusion)

Pff Soul Calibur on no. 2? That game was such a disapointment.
Me and my brother did 2-player once, it was aweful. Stupid button mashing.
I see a lot of PC games in there....

This is a very, VERY typical list for a non-gaming mag/website/etc.

Null, the funny thing with button-mashers is: IT'S NO USE DOING THE COMBOS CAUSE ANY NOOB CAN BEAT YOU WITH MASHING.
Against computer, it's pretty good to use combos....
Karaoke Revolution? Something like The Matrix Revolutions without voices?

What do you mean when you say button masher? I use the term 'button masher' to describe a game, not the person who plays the game. In some games learning combos don't even effect how skilled you are at the game. There is no point in learning a combo when all you have to do is block, duck, and punch to win, or when it is too easy to land a hit in the first place. IMHO, Soul Calibur requires no skill. You could take the average guy who is good at any fighting games and he will naturally be good at SC. Games that require true skill are MK:DA and VF4.

ok. MK, is the apidimy of a crappy fighter. VF4 i found decent but not as good as SC in anyway close.
im not tryin to convince you to like it. But take all your button masking techniques up against me and i garentee you i will squash you in that game and you prolly wont even land a hit.
Block? i can break the block, duck? i'll hit you low, jump? i'll hit you high. punch? i'll deflect it.
depending on who you play with yes, the game can be a complete button masher. Take the time to learn the game, and it hops up on a whole nother level.

Trust me it does require skill. Not to the extent of VF4 though.
And the average guy won't naturally be good @ SC. We have had challenges with the original and we all knew how to play except 3 of my mates. We kicked their ass.

I kinda agree. Button mashers can "fluke" a win or so against an expert, but 95% of the time, an expert would surely win.
It's not combos that's important, tactics is the most important thing. But the thing is tactics sometimes don't work against button mashers coz they just do anything and don't hold back.
The game is great if you know how to play it.
