Default iQue: New console by Nintendo for Chinese market + pics + TGS pics

For those who havent heard, Nintendo is planning on entering the chinese market, and to do so, they are going to try new methods to avoid piracy. China is known for a lot of piracy which has kept of the console makers at arms length from china.

But Nintendo will try and gain an ignored market (other than all the games they pirate) by releasing the iQue.

Its kind of sounds extreme in some ways buy what ever works (though like everything, someone will find some way to hack it)

To curb piracy the console comes with a single memory card to download games which is only usable on the console it was sold with. Titles will include 10 Chinese language versions of past Nintendo games.

The iQue player will cost 498 yuan (60 USD). Each game can be downloaded for only 48 yuan (5.80 USD).

Its cheap yes, but its also old games. And they are pretty much using this as a test in the market, not going full-fledged new generation. And the cheap price may not seem so bad compared to free pirated game than 50 dollar games would be.

On an unrelated matter:

This seems to be wirless GBA links

Special edition cube:

And president of Nintendo giving speech about the industry's growth and change over the years:

The iQue looks like a touched up Dreamcast Controller. The wireless Gameboy links look like marketing ploys to sell off with the new rehashed Pokémon games. The Special Edition Gamecube has a sticker on the system and controller and a new color.

hmmm...that controller does resemble the Dreamcast controller(which wasnt a bad controller) It looks almost like a cross between the Dreamcast controller and the N64 controller...strange.

That's exactly the same thing I was thinking when I saw it. Could the chinese one day be able to play Ocarina of Time. They would be able to see the greatest game ever made (IMO) non-pirated

But on the subject of the iQue Player, this could be a good step towards a healthy relationship with Nintendo and China. Eventually they could have an actual console that is harder then hell to pirate. (Like we've seen with the 'Cube). This is a small step towards bigger things. I want to see where Nintendo will be in the Chinese market someday.

On the subject of the wireless GBA Link-up. Nintendo is finally making one, thankfully. I wonder how far the range will be. Hopefully at least as far as the Wavebirds can go. Then you can have even better fun with friends being in seperate rooms in a more comfortable way and not crammed together in one spot. *Imagines 2-4 GBP's with the wireless link-up*
