New Voodoo Vince Screens (Mario Killer?)
Here are twenty screenshots of Voodoo Vince for you:
And, of course, some information provided by IGN:
Quote:
Microsoft is proving they're not afraid to take a trip into the bizarre. With no news on the madcap Psychonauts for some time, it's up to Microsoft's latest strange creation to fill the oddity gap. Voodoo Vince, spearheaded by first-time developer Beep Industries, is about the weirdest video game concept we've heard.
You play Vince, a burlap voodoo doll who's lost his keeper, Madame Charmaine. Vince's quest takes him deep into the Louisiana bayou where he must do battle with a plethora of weird monsters. What makes Voodoo Vince particularly unique is how he takes on the bad guys.
Vince is a voodoo doll, and his pain becomes the pain of his enemies. As Vince, you'll hop under a falling safe, leap into a high-speed blender, or even throw yourself on a chainsaw and get cut in half in order to do the same deadly damage to your foes. But unlike his enemies, Vince magically heals himself after each catastrophe.
Here are the down and dirty details:
Voodoo Combat -- There will be 40 different voodoo attacks at Vince's disposal. So imagine playing a virtual jackass, smashing into things, cutting off limbs, setting yourself on fire, and any other number of foolhardy things that would make Johnny Knoxville proud.
Whole New World -- There's no more interesting, mythical place in American than Lousiana, and Voodoo Vince aims to prove that. Down in the bayou, Vince will tangle with mucky swamps, a jazz alley, stinky sewers, and the famous French Quarter.
Weapons -- Along with running into hairy situations, Vince can carry objects and weapons to harm himself. He'll have pins to poke himself and mallets to mash his melon. All of this, of course, hurts his enemy. Vince also can carry blocks, barrels, and boxes, to use against enemies for more direct attacks.
It's Got Character -- Voodoo Vince promises a slew of off-beat characters filled with Louisiana charm. Everything from GingerDead Men to a pair of intoxicated gas pumps.
Like we said, Voodoo Vince pushes the "weird" envelope well beyond any other Xbox game to date. Set to ship this fall for a mere $39.95, Voodoo Vince may be the mature platformer than can finally kill Mario. Or at least Vince can saw off his own arms and make Mario look a bit more like Rayman.
|
And IGN also has a great movie ( link) if anyone is interested. Although I doubt Voodoo Vince will be better than Mario. Hopefully it will give Rayman and run for his money.
(The movie is a joke)

I just love how everytime a new platformer comes out, everyone hopes it'll be a MarioKiller because it's so mature. Last time I checked people played Mario because... because it's fun. Plain and simple. You can't get that from screenshots.
I also just love how people that are so far away from stuff can like things so much. Voodoo 'dolls' don't exist practically anywhere other than New Orleans, yet that's the main thing Americans know about it.

Lets hope it isn't as dissapointing as Blinx.
Hype killed that game, hope it doesn't kill this.
I like the voodoo doll concept! I hope it turns out well.
