"My live-in partner has been totally absorbed in playing computer games, so I thought that he would turn his attention to me if I was in trouble," she was quoted as telling officers of the Meito Police Station.

She first contacted police shortly after 11 p.m., saying that she had been slashed with a knife near her home.

She called them again some five hours later and confessed. "The previous report I made was a lie," she told an officer on the telephone. The police plan to send her case to prosecutors on charges of fictitious reporting. (Mainichi Shimbun, April 8, 2003)

This just goes to show you, when you live with the one you love, remember to pay some attention to them in between videogame session, maybe during a loading screen...

that is facked up, people are becoming more retarded these days just for attention, and thats sad she had to do something like that to get attention from a gamer! its half her own fault, if she was with a gamer that never paid any attention to her, she shoulda got the hell out! and as for her partner, what a retard, there is other life beyond the FLAT SCREEN!

I don't get it... Did she wait five hours without the police or anyone coming to check her?

If not, wouldn't the police have realized what was going on when they came to see her or whatever and saw she was unharmed? In which case, she wouldn't have needed to phone a confession five hours after her initial call...
