I dont know how credable Nin-Europe is on this, but GA seems to have confirmed that a remake of MGS is in the making yet doesnt mention any platforms. IGN also has rumors of it being at least Gamecube bound I think.

As long as it's on either PS2 or NGC (if it's real) then I'll be happy snappy...
I'd rather have an all new MG game though... of course, we all know that's coming anyways
Although that mips site has been credible in the past, it's still not confirmed so yeah... I seem to remember them having "Metal Gear Solid 2" or Metal Gear Solid or something on their gamecube game list for the longest time and it never happened...

If it's really exclusive to Gamecube, I wonder what it could be...
I don't think it could possibly be MGS3...Kojima has already mentioned working with the PS2 hardware for it, and Konami would be retarded not to release MGS3 on a system where they're guarunteed 3 million+ copies sold worldwide.
A remake of MGS would more reasonable...and if that's the case, it would be a great treat for Gamecube owners. MGS might just be the best game of all time (IMO).
But you know what I think would be even more interesting? A remake of the NES/GBC Metal Gear games...in full 3D, using the MGS2 engine. A new generation of gamers would be able to play those great games in a completely new way (3D).

well, I'm thinking about all the buttons used in MGS2.. how the hell can they do that on GCN? And even after that fact, MGS2 uses the analog buttons on Ps2 too. (like when you aim your gun and put it down)
This will be interesting

1) This game won't be MGS2
2) MGS didn't have as advanced controls as MGS2
3) ...quit staring! didn't your mother always tell you that each point you make should have 3 parts?!

Well.... if they move back in the control scheme.... I won't buy it, cause I didn't like how MGS1 played

Well hopefully the gaming age story is true... I'd love to see a remake of Metal Gear Solid (although I like Perfect Stu's idea of full 3D remake of the very first game on NES... or better yet, the second one from SNES which was never released in the US)... I hope they add some neat new stuff (like the RE remake)... Yay...
And if this isn't true Imma kill someone for getting me all excited...

Not surprising. Rumors of a MGS remake are old, and the rumors of them coming to GC are just as old.
Back in August (I believe), someone was hired to do voice action for either a MGS remake, or a Gamecube MGS (not sure which one it was). It seemed to be a little harder evidence than saying someone maybe let something slip during some interview that hinted at some version of MGS hitting some platform. So I'm not really in shock, been expecting it.

Well, that is a report from an admin at Konami's site, who's been hinting at something for the Cube for some while.

Shigeru Miyamoto reveals that he's working on an unnamed MGS title. But what is it?
It's an old chestnut of a rumour that Metal Gear Solid, in some form, will appear on Gamecube. However, the rumour has come to fruition with Shigeru Miyamoto himself making a statement to the Italian gaming press to that effect.
Miyamoto is in Europe on a Zelda promotion tour and has already revealed titbits of info on Nintendo games - such as a new game in the works that uses the same game engine as Wind Waker, with ideas that had to be cut from that game making it into this new unnamed project (we think it has to be a Zelda game, although Miyamoto wouldn't confirm this). So it's in keeping with his tour to drop these little bombshells here and there.
Nintendo and Metal Gear are no strangers, with the first two games in the series appearing some years ago on NES and a MGS title appearing on Game Boy Color.
We spoke to Nintendo and they confirmed that Miyamoto is indeed working with Konami on a MGS title but wouldn't reveal any more than that. So we're still in the dark about whether the game will be a port or a brand spanking new title. However, for some time now the rumour mill would have us believe that a Gamecube remake of the original NES is on the cards.
Whatever the case, MGS on Cube is great news and we'll keep you in the know about any further developments.
|
I'll believe it when I see it though. At the end of the day, I hope it's nothing like MGS2, I felt that there was something about it that kept it a step behind the first one.
