Question Mrs. Aran Are You Ready for your Close-up

Well, it seems that the Metroid series will be turned into a movie, I don't know how wll this will work out, but maybe Nintendo can get something out of this sort of like the Wizard.

Quote:
Variety.com is reporting that Hollywood producers Warren Zide and Craig Perry (whose credits include Final Destination and American Pie) have acquired the rights to make a movie based on Nintendo's Metroid game series. The producing duo is currently seeking out writers, directors, and some actors and actresses to fill out the roles of all involved. Here's the preliminaries, courtesy of Variety:

The story is set in a once peaceful galaxy, which has its prosperity shattered by a startling discovery: On a routine mapping expedition of a planet, a survey crew discovers a new airborne life form -- the Metroid. Able to engulf other living beings, feed on their energy, and multiply in great numbers, they prove a terrifying menace. Female bounty hunter Samus Aran is commissioned by the Galactic Federation to eliminate the pests, but she soon discovers that pirates with a stolen Metroid specimen are plotting to breed and build an unstoppable army.

Call me Crazy, but if done with the right actress this could actually be a good movie. They have to make the metroids look good though...its still 2 years off at the least anyways...dont get too excited yet.

they should put the same actress that was in resident evil...she seems capable of the role...

as for the movie, i don't think it would be that good...i mean serioulsy, how many sci fi movies do we allready have...and another one thats going to come out in 2 years after a few more movies...but that's just what i think now...maybe my opinion will change in 2 years.

Hmm, what's this? Another crappy movie? Heh, really though, most movies that are based off of games usually end up sucking.. (like the Resident Evil movie...)

Well although videogame movies don't have a very good track record, you should always give a movie a chance instead of calling it crap before they even have many hard facts on the movie

Bluefire made a good point on AIM though... Metroid doesn't really have that much of a storyline Howz they gonna make it work in the movie?

Seems to me that most of the time they pick the wrong games to make into movies... and when they pick the right ones (Resident Evil, Final Fantasy) they mess it up (mainly because they never base it on an actual game from the series)...

Take Silent Hill or Metal Gear Solid and make a movie based closely on one of the games and I bet it will be good!

Milla Jovovovovovovovovovovovich?

Hell yeah. She'd be great. As long as they don't use the same caster as the last Mario Bros movie, I think it will turn out very well. (John Leguizamo as LUIGI? How the hell did that happen??)

Regardless, I could sort of sense it what with the commercial-movie they just made.. And the Metroid series does have a story. Prime wasn't as heavy, but Fusion was. (you know, how the computer gave her orders and stuff... and it reminded her of her last commandeer... you know. Maybe it will turn out to be a prequel.

They need to get the DIRECTOR of the Resident Evil movie. He's the one that made Mortal Kombat (Only the first one, not the crappy Power-Rangers-like second movie.) and the Resident Evil one. If there's some one completely apt for this work... it's him. I can't remember his name though. About Milla Jovovich (The one you're talking about) I don't know... Maybe she can. Samus hasn't developed much of a personality thorugh out her games so it's hard to say. She's there only to blast the living hell out of anything that moves. Which makes me a litle worried about how they will make Samus Aran's personality. I just hope they don't make anything like the street fighter movie or the Mortal kombat: Anihalatio (SP?) one. Or somebody's gona get hurt.

I refuse to get excited until I see the movie and like it.

Keeps the disappointment to a minimum.

Likely cons: Too many scenes with her helmet on could hinder the performance. But not enough and they probably wont get enough action.

Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid? Sure, but what about Warcraft? Anyone who has seen the cutscenes in warcraft III knows that this would be sicness.

Dont really think metroid would work, at least in its current style. Movies actually need dialog ya know.

Blizzard are good with those types of story/dialog games. War/StarCraft and Diablo just to name a few. Best voice acting and creative as well, not too over the top! Blizzard kix ass

Well if I'm not mistaken, the movie would somewhat detail the events of the first Metroid game so if they really wanted to stretch and make it into a movie:

1)Her origins, how she got her suit and powers and what not
2)Her training
3)Her becoming a Bounty hunter
4)The people getting her to help
5)Her adventures on the planet

I think parts 1-4 would make the bulk of the plot while part 5 would be the action.

I think it'll be good.

(But don't quote me if the movie ends up being a failure).
