USed Laptop with No OS Should I buy one? (If I can find one)

OK I would normally NEVER do this but my PC is about to die, again, and I'm thinking of getting a laptop for the summer when I go on vacation.

I want to know if there'sa plaxce I can buy a Laptop with no OS, (So I can install LINUX) and have it "Inpsected'; kidna like a used car.

This is not somethign I want ot drop $500+ On, but it's at an emergancy level now, and I need to know if it'sa good idea or if I should just suck it up and wait witbout a PC for awhile. Basically I need a working PC soon or I'm going to have more problems than I can handle andI need a laptop anyway, if I can buy a used PC what should I look for? What do I want if I want to play games, and watch DVD's besides the obvoiius andhow much would it cost? If it has no OS and is pretty old, will it cost less, or the same as a newer one?

I'm not looking for a powerhouse, I'm looking for a patch ofr my leaky raft.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you say "need", that does mean for work or school or something or is it a desperate kind of need. If infact, you really don't "need" a computer, hold out, until you can get something nice. If you do "need" a computer, I wouldn't try to buy an "OS-less" one. I would just buy a used Windows/Mac loaded laptop.

I *Need* it for Computer Science, Gaming (not Hardcore Gaming, but the Regular Stuff) and basicallya workig PC as well as a machine to take on vacation. It's also out of desperation due to the fatc that I'm building a PC anfd if I can geta sub0-standard machine that works, it'll still be better than having a High_end machine that doesn't, I'm going to run ths by my parents becasue it's humilating to ave to progrtam on my brohter's PC.

I'm biuilding a Desktop but I need a Laptop and I can't afford a new one or I'd get a new MAc, if I can geta cheap, used machine, for less than $500 that's good.

I basically just need somerthing that turns on, and untl I can get my machine to work, I need something with word that doesn't cr@p out evry five seconds.

I guess you could say I do need it, but I also want it as a "patch" for my leaky raft. I'm not looking ofr anything flashy, just functional, and a palce qwith decent prices.
