Today, Media Create released its latest Japanese hardware sales charts, this time covering the week ending January 12th. This past week, which incidentally marks the first hardware charts from Media Create this year, show Game Boy Advance at the top with 95,500 units. Game Boy Advance was followed by PlayStation 2 with 79,095 units, GameCube with 19,902 units, and then Xbox taking up the rear with 3,900 units. Check out the charts below.

Game Boy Advance: 95,400 (Annual: 95,400)
PlayStation 2: 79,095 (Annual: 79,095)
GameCube: 19,902 (Annual: 19,902)
Xbox: 3,900 (Annual: 3,900)
PSOne: 3,165 (Annual: 3,165)
Wonder Swan Crystal: 2,718 (Annual: 2,718)
Wonder Swan Color: 1,691 (Annual: 1,691)
Game Boy Color: 1,125 (Annual: 1,125)

Whats to be shocked about here...Gamecube is kicking X-Box's ass, the japs dont go for big bulky consoles...and rightfully so. And PS2 will always be on top, no matter what anybody tries to do...

Nope can't see as how the size of the unit would stop them buying it! But if it is the size of the Xbox the new smaller version there working on should sell like crazy over there. Some thing i cn't see it doing.

If you ask me than the "Size" arguement was born out of stupid fanboys bashing the X-Box.

Seriosuly it's not selling because it lacks the brandname and games that appeal to the majority.

Also sales will not imrpove as in Japanese eyes the X-Box is already labeled a "Failure" so nuff said.
