Oblivion was sweeeet! But it did have some balance issues that detracted from the original game, many of which were resolved by an eager mod community. I do confess I felt the game to be slightly "confined" or fake compared to say...the expansive, and more importantly, social world of Diablo 2. It's an apples to oranges comparison, I know. I just don't play many magnum RPGs.

I was a big fan of morrowind... Never got into Oblivion though. I hope this goes back to their more open-ended gaming roots. And even if they don't go completly open like Morrowind, they need to at LEAST get rid of the level scaling. If that's still there, I'm not even renting this game.

Granted the levelling system was a bit crap but if you worked it out it worked perfectly, you could make a character with 100 everything by power levelling.
Oh the time I spent at the shrine of Peryite (or however u spell it) punching and swording the frozen people. Or stood on top of a building in town electricuting myself.
Anyway...
OMFG
Looks like I am gonna have to close myself off to the outside world and live in the elder scrolls land for another 6 months of my life again. *Sigh*

The world looks gorgeous.
But there are 2 things I don't like about the game:
1. I fear the game may be TOO big. I dont'want to be lost in that world for 100 hours.
2. It's bloody. Option to turn the gore off? I guess modders will find a way if not.

Have you ever played an Elder Scrolls game? They are all about getting lost in a huge world for a 100 hours.

Im going to assume you were 100% sarcastic about what you just said, in which case I 100% agree with you.
My understanding is that the world is roughly the same as Oblivions in size, but more of the terrain is passable and as a result there are more locations to explore.
Ehm actually I was serious. And I have played Morrowind for 100 hours.
Now that I think of it, there might be a bigger problem.
It's this weird feeling I have. I love the idea of Skyrim (or any other TES game). It looks so pretty. But somehow it also looks so... unpersonal. In Morrowind I didn't care about a single character. They were faceless, none of them mattered for the story line.
And that makes the whole world a lot less appealing. Sure, I'll be running around acting like a hero for hundreds of hours... but what does it matter?
I'm a sucker for atmosphere. Morrowind hardly had any, I watched my bro play Oblivion and it didn't appeal to me, now I get the same nasty feeling with Skyrim.
