Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer
Ehck. On one hand, it's great that we have another hardcore Wii title.
On the other hand, it's completely missing the soul of the original. Not to mention the whole Brosnan-missing thing. Activision has a high chance of screwing this up. The graphics look like crap. Halfway between nostalgia and a decent looking Wii title (No More Heroes 2 or SMG2?) this doesn't look like it'll hit any kind of decent benchmark.
I'm not sure if I feel sorry for the guys who spent hundreds of hours of hard work making the Goldeneye: Source mod for STEAM or if I feel good for them because this train wreck looks like...well a train wreck.
It seems like its a "re-imagining" of the film. I'm sure it would have been okay if they had chosen ANY other Bond film, but eh movies have remakes, and now I guess so do games.
It seems to me that the same people who get excited about a game like this are the same type of people who get excited when a old TV series is made into a major motion picture.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer
It looks like they got Call of Duty into my Goldeneye.
I realize they had to update it a bit, but Aiming Down the Sight, the Running, all seems like they took a CoD wii engine and retro-fitted it.
And here's a video showing classic controller support.
Well, I'm not at all excited about this. I loved the original, but this remake looks aweful. Graphics are hardly better than on the N64... gameplay looks like a weird mix of classic and new.

Make it $20 and I'll be all over it. Looks sweet to me. Graphics are updated, but it still has the old-school feel to it. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a fact of low-powered Wii spiced with laziness, but I like it either way. For $20, that is.
Btw, Angrist, not that this game looks amazing graphically, but go back and look at screens of the original. The character models alone are 100 times better than the N64 ones. I can actually tell who it is I'm looking at, instead of some smudgy face!

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer
Are any of the people from the original team who made the first game working on this? Like some of the people from Rare, or from New Radical Design?
I liked Perfect Dark for 360, and the Timesplitters games... so if they got some of the developers back, it might just be good. If not, then I won't buy it out of principal, even if it gets good reviews. It's like if Activision made a Kingdom Hearts game.. F that... I'm not going to buy something just because of the licence.
