Default Revolution is 3D

Quote:
Q: What companies were behind the development of the InFocus™DepthQ™ projector?

A: InFocus® Corporation and Lightspeed Design Group

InFocus® Corporation (Nasdaq: INFS) has been innovating and developing new ways for people to share big pictures and ideas in business, education and home entertainment for almost twenty years. Beginning with our worldwide leadership in digital projectors, today our expertise extends beyond projection into large format displays, ultra-thin microdisplay televisions, wireless connectivity, networking software and engine technology all designed to make the presentation of ideas, information, and entertainment an exhilarating experience. InFocus Corporation's global headquarters are located in Wilsonville, Oregon, USA, with regional offices in Europe and Asia.

Lightspeed Design Group has been a leader in stereo 3D for over a decade, developing new hardware and software technologies and presenting 3D to millions through museum theaters, corporate events, and a world exposition. Lightspeed has considerable expertise in 3D projection, software development, and electronics. Lightspeed's clients include Mercedes, U.S. Army, Continental Teves, Procter & Gamble, Nintendo, IMAX Corporation, and Disney Imagineering.

InFocus™DepthQ™ is exclusively distributed by Lightspeed Design Group.

3d goggles ... this is it.

Adam's theories summed up.

Nintendo invests in gyroscopic company.

They specialize in gyroscopes that can pick up yaw rotation (think waving your hand). As well as pitch and left and right.

Now imagine goggles on your head with these gyroscopes. It can pick up your head looking to the left or right. Gyroscopic company specializes in this. This also explains why Nintendo doesn't give a damn about High Def

Nintendo chooses no line mode, makes it free and build in wireless:
Nintendo knows only one person can play per revolution console, so they make the consoles connect to each other for free across the no line community, and when in close proximity. This is the new multiplayer. No more being tethered to a controller, to a console to a tv (reggie said they wont be doing that)

Nintendo Makes Revolution TINY

This is because they know a lot of people will enjoy the multiplayer part of it by bringing consoles together . Portability is a must.

Nintendo says its the only way the industry can go
Think about it, once graphics max out in clarity, then what. 3D is the only way video games can evolve from here on.

Nintendo patent shows up with new point of view click here

The patent explains that current games all have constantly moving camera point of view. ex. camera always follows football, in a football game. They say all that camera movement makes things difficult to follow. With these goggles, all camera movement will be controlled by where you look. There is only one camera, and one pivot point, just like the patent says. It is the only way this patent can be explained, and work for all games.

Iwata says unique design might alienate 3rd parties

this is because 3rd party titles will no longer extend all 3 platforms. 3rd parties will be forced to make revolution games exclusive to revolution.

Revolution would bring about a "paradigm shift"
Would anything less be concidered a paradigm?

Square Enix is excited about something! They Said:
"The Revolution may embody a new platform beyond a portable or console, which makes possible a new structure in the network gaming system, changing the ways communities are built and supported. This is the kind of direction we've envisioned, and we will challenge ourselves to provide immersive interactive content in response to what Nintendo offers." I dont think a touch screen controller with gryo would set them off like that.

they go on to say:

"not just a portable, not just a console -- it's exactly what we wanted in that it's the birth of a completely new platform."

Sounds revolutiory to them I think

Nintendo says it is a technology currently available, but not being used for games.
I've seen this technology at disney world (it's tough to be a bug, honey I shruk the audience) and at Universal Studios (terminator 3d).... but have not seen it in a game setting yet

Nintendo Quotes

Quote:
Well, the concept of a home system today is defined as hardware that you tether to a box, and you are tethered to it via a controller; we think that's an old paradigm. We think that the consumer wants something much more innovative than that. Coupled with the concept of strong community and immersion into the gameplay, we think that's what we need to deliver on from a consumer propostion standpoint.
Quote:
"This won't be a continuation, but rather something entirely different," Nintendo Senior Managing Director Yoshiro Mori
Quote:
"What we need is not a next-generation machine but a next-generation way of playing games," Iwata commented. "We need to propose a new idea so that the game industry can overcome its current crisis."
Quote:
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. On stage at Nintendo's pre-E3 2004 press conference, Iwata said: "Different also defines our approach to our next home system. It won't simply be new or include new technologies. Better technology is good, but not enough. Today's consoles already offer fairly realistic expressions so simply beefing up the graphics will not let most of us see a difference. So what should a new machine do? Much more. An unprecedented gameplay experience. Something no other machine has delivered before."

maybe this is not it, but try to find a quote or a fact that would disprove this theory.

they said it would hook up to a tv or computer monitor? obviously that is for the backward compatability element.

Or this is all BS and it's for Rev games too :>

I dunno it sounds interesting... I dunno... I just don't see it happening this generation...

Plus one other thing:

Quote:
Nintendo knows only one person can play per revolution console, so they make the consoles connect to each other for free across the no line community, and when in close proximity.
Meaning your friends who perhaps don't own a Revolution of their own can't simply waltz over to your house to engage in multiplayer action... I just can't see them doing something like that...

They can come over and play the classic games. Nintendo said they weren't forsaking the old way either (hence backward compatibility) But that isn't a problem for DS owners... they have to have a DS to play with you, and it costs $150 bux. If the revolution launches at $199 (like most think it will) I dont think it will be a problem for the revolution either.

Iwata also said on the 12th:

Quote:
“Sitting in front of your monitor with a controller, there’s really nowhere to go from that paradigm, all you can do is make it prettier and faster,” he said. “What Nintendo wants to do is to open up that road, create something that goes beyond.”

reggie said:
Quote:
Nobody can estimate our power. This is a big advantage. A lost opportunity never returns. I won’t be surprised if Microsoft screams when they see our Revolution.

pretty damn interesting if you ask me....

But... The DS is a handheld... Handhelds are designed to be playable wherever whenever by a person on the go... They weren't originally designed for 2-4 people to all go somewhere just to hang around playing videogames...

Home consoles have always been made so that a friend (or 3) can come over and play against you on the $20 extra controller(s) you have... Not the $200 console they might not own...
