Could you...
I have a question, and a very strange one at that. Before I go on though, wouldn't this forum have been better left alone until February? Well... Maybe we'll do Black History next month instead.
Anyway my question is:
Do you think it's possible for you, yes that means YOU, to fall in love with someone of the same gender as yourself, even though you might be heterosexual, or if you were homosexual do you think you could fall in love with someone of the opposite sex?
I mean do you think you could fall in love with this person and care for them, even be able to passionately uh you know *GET IT ON* with them?
Just curious.
My Answer:
I think that it would ultimately be possible for me to fall in love with someone of my own gender, but I feel that I could never really give them 100% of my interest. I would always be checking out girls and the drive for that would be to immense to really cut off. So I would never really try to get involved with someone of the same sex or anything like that.

Re: Could you...
Same sex just doesn't work for me. I'm completely straight.
Love has the big two making it up: Attraction and Affection. I could never feel affection for another guy, so it wouldn't work out. It's an instinctual thing.

Re: Could you...
I don't think I would go that far with another Dude. The majority of people right now who I care about the most are guy's, but I could never see myself being involved with them in anything sexual.

Perhaps a more interesting question: Would you fall in love with yourself?

Nah, my relationship with myself is strictly physical.
Anyway....to answer the question, no. I just don't swing that way, no matter how many islands you abondon me on with only dudes, and no matter what insane hypothetical scenario you create, it won't happen. The male anatomy is mostly physical anyway.....you leave me at war, I won't fall in love with a dude.....I might be able to secret a part of me to a brick wall or something, but that's strictly physical.

I disagree. I think otherwise, actually...
I doubt that I'll ever be attracted to a female. I do perve on girls alot but other than admiring their bodies and silently hoping that I look 1/8 like them, there hardly is any type of attraction that i feel will lead to the "getting it on part"
I'm not ruling anything out though . People change.
With affection, well, I'm pretty affectionate with my female friends. In your context, I think you are probably referring to a more intimate form of affection. Non sexual form of contact such as hugging can also be intrepreted as affection.
I think I have used the word 'affection' and its various forms too many times throughout the last paragraph. I can feel my English teacher getting a heart attack >.<

Re: Could you...
hmm, tough question (and I could care less who read what I say, *cough*)
I could never fall in love with the person of my same gender but if I had a girlfriend or wife or whatever who wanted a threesome with 2 guys and her, I wouldn't mind (as long as she returns it later with 2 females, etc..). Other then that, I won't just go with a guy only for months/years. Just doesn't feel right. Females for teh win

Re: Could you...
It is against my programming.
I may have fun with a guy and have many things in common with him. In fact, he may be attractive. However, I myself am attracted to women, it is how I was designed.
I require more of "love" than emotional dependancy. And, no matter how well I get along with a guy, I'll never have the desire to do the things to him that I'd do to women (or my girlfriend in particular)

I don't think so. I'm willing to argue that you are born with your sexuality, and if not, I would say most people are only pliable for the first year or two of their life. Sexuality has yet to be linked to genetics, but I sort of think we might find a connection, eventually.
A lot of gay people don't come out with the fact that they are gay because they live in a society that frowns upon homosexuality, or maybe their parents do not support their choice. I think people know what their sexuality is, and they don't change - I do think that the environment around them affects their sexual choices and preferences, for a time, but not ultimately.

Re: Could you...
This reminds me of a question I was asked awhile ago, a girl I know asked me if I was bi. I said no, but unsurely. Anyways...
I do believe people change, I used to be scared of ever doing stuff that would be even considered homoerotic. But now, I've matured, and am secure with my sexuality. I'm not afraid to act like it. Just ask Typhoid, we've had to times together...no, not like that.

Right, you were scared. You knew your sexuality all along, it was in you, you just had not yet found it, or let it take command of your life. I have no doubt in my mind that people repress, hold back and even deny their sexuality, but I believe that people are a certain sexuality and they cannot change it.
Environments can affect your sexual choices, but I still do not believe they can change your sexuality.
