Saw
So, who saw Saw yesterday?
I did, and thought it was pretty good. Considering their incredibly low budget, they did a good job. Not as gory as I thought it would be, which was good because I wasn't looking forward to seeing 100 minutes of visceral blood and arteries. Made you feel uncomfortable and disturbed, which reminded me of Silent Hill.
It was good stuff, definitely better than most, if not all, horror movies of the past few years. Go see it.

Re: Saw
I saw Saw last night. Pretty damned cool. I recommend seeing it.
Now we must see The Grudge.

Re: Saw
Very tense movie. One of my female friends literally jumped out of her chair and screamed her head off.

Re: Saw
Hmmmm....hearing all of this makes me just want to go see it even more.
DAMN YOU!!!! DAMN YOU ALL!!
EDIT: What exactly is the basis of the movie, because i've only seen a couple previews, and what i get from that is an insane guy like, kidnaps people and makes them kill eachotehr and brutally injure themselves to get to freedom.

Re: Saw
Is The Saw based off a Japanese movie with roughly the same storyline?

no, and it's Saw, not The Saw. The movie was created by two young guys over the course of two years. They basically just got together sometimes and through ideas around.
And this really isn't a "scary" movie, but the definition of scary has been thrown around a lot. If you've ever played any of the Silent Hill games, you'll see what I mean. It's more about feeling disturbed and unsettled.

The basis of the movie, is, pretty much like you a said, about a guy who kidnaps people and makes them do something (which often involves shedding their own blood, or others). If they do not do what they're told, he kills them. But... he himself doesnt kill them, they usually end up killing themselves due to the "game" he's set up for them. Kind of hard to explain.. you just have to see it.
It's not actually scary, at least it wasn't for me. Of course there were some stupid chicks screaming, but that's because they were girls, so... yeah. Not really a scary movie.
