Music Battle
Alright, Vampyr and I have just started to plan this. We talked about having a Music Battle just like Dylflon's Character Battle. 64 total bands would be picked, and half of them will be older, and the other half will be newer. One rule we've chosen is that you have to be a member of the music forum to choose the bands. These are just the basics of what Vampyr and I have talked about, tell us what you think.

Re: Music Battle
Sounds cool to me, though I'm afraid any suggestions I give would be turned to a deaf ear. I like a lot of bands that not many people have heard of, and I'm not trying to sound pretentious here, but it's a fact. I don't know of many GT'ers who I could talk to about the latest Of Montreal album. Nevertheless, I love music, so I'll gladly participate no matter what.

It sounds like a good plan...

Re: Music Battle
Sounds fun, if I quickly signed up to be in the Music forum, would I be included in the good times?
Regarding your Music group policy, I think you'll have a better turn out if you leave it open to everyone.

Maybe this is a secret plan to get more people signed up for the music group, eh? People love contests and judging things, so maybe it will get at least a couple people to sign up so they can be involved in the festivities.

Re: Music Battle
Let me clarify Zebra's post a little.
The music battle will in fact be open to EVERYONE, but we thought that the music group should have benefits. So, by being a member of the music group, you get to choose what bands will be competing. Each member of the group can select so many, until we have a grand total of 64 bands. 32 of the bands will be "older" music, such as classic rock, and the other 32 will be contemporary bands. We did this so that it would be a fair fight to the end, between old and new music. I assume that anything released in the 90's and up is considered "contemporary", and anything before then is not.
Once all of these bands have been selected, the tournament will begin in the contest forum, where EVERY member on the baord will have a chance to vote.

Your suggestions can still be put into the tournament. I'm just not sure how we're going to pick all of the bands yet after people start suggesting.

Was it for the same reason that it was for Dylflon's Character Battle?

Re: Music Battle
There's not a possible way to name the best band out of all bands, because opinions and styles differ far too greatly. Times, technologies, genres... it all affects how good a song is. Experience, even the need to find originality in newer songs.
Edit: Nonetheless, I'll be fair and try to play along.

This isn't really to try and see who the best band is. You're right, it is opinion..I just figured we'd have a battle for people to choose which bands they think are the best. It's just for a little fun I guess. You're absolutely right about what you said.
