Green Party
I read today that the Green party ( for those that dont know, the party that wants to legalize pot) Is saying that they know how they can make Canada prosperous and make Canada a better country.
Now, not all of their opinions are weed related, that is a "minor" concern, but they also believe in toher politacal things that are more major and more general, such do the Liberals and NDP.
Your thoughts and concerns about Canada's government, because we seem to have alot of stuff bashing the American one, so why not our own.
Who do you think will win the election, who do you want to win the election. Why/ Why not.

Re: Green Party
I definitely do not want that piece of **** Green Party to be in any position of power. Unfortunately, no Canadian political party suits my ideas and addresses my concerns, although the closest would be the Conservatives. I am getting really intolerant of this country and it's government, I should start my own party.

Re: Green Party
The only thing im pissed off about is that no money goes into the west in comparison to the east. Just because the east has more people, they have more potential voters, so they get all the money for road replacements, new construction etc. Im not really strong on any party though, i always say i would go for the party that is the least fascist, and puts more money into the west.
And dont worry, the Green party wont win. Neither will the Bloc Quebecois.
Meh, NDP is alright, i guess, at least they arnt the Liberals. God they messed up our country. The only thing im worried about is if the Liberals lose, there might be more TV violence and content restrictions.

There might be others.Interesting explanation.
Is that a fact.I am glad to hear that you are not strong on any party though he or she always say he or she would go for the party that is the least fascist and puts more money into the west.
I cannot feel "worry", so don't worry.Probably not.

Re: Green Party
Well, I'm pretty sure that I'll be casting my vote for the NDP.
and Dyne, if you're first choice is NDP...how can your second choice be a party that is the complete opposite? Or were you just going for the irony?
I'd hate to see this country under a conservative government. Harper has been asked if he'd send our troops to Iraq...and he's dodged the question every time. This country doesn't need a republican'esque' government.
I can't see the most right wing party putting any substantial amount of money into our health care system. The liberals are bad enough. I also think that their stance on drugs is backwards and correlates with the US's warped view on the matter.
The Green Party probably shares most of my ideals but I don't think it has the compitence to effectively run the Canadian government. It seems like they'd put us into a big debt and there's more to it than saving trees.
Quebec seperating? The bloc is doing quite well in the Quebec polls. If the conservatives and liberals don't gain some more ridings in that province then it could very well be leaving this nation. That'd be kind of wierd. A leafs and Canadiens game.
And I've been recently pondering this. Why did conscription piss of the French Canadian population so much? It wasn't just Britains game back in WW1 and 2. The french were just as much an Allie. Sure, conscription sucks, but what else was Mackenzie supposed to do? Was French Canada too blind to see the Nazi threat? It has supposedly been the biggest influence in splitting french and english Canadians. I really wish that they would wash the canadian sand out of their vaginas and realise that while this country, like every other country in the world, has it's share of problems, it's a great nation and that they're part of it the same as every other ethnic population. What else am I missing? They have enough ridings in parliament. Their views are addressed. The western part of the country has more grounds for being pissed off about being ignored than they do.
And **** the conservative party as a whole. I'm not going to vote for a party that encompasses two different parties that, combined, resemble the Bush government far too much. The conservatives are leading the polls now. That's ****ing scary. Doesn't anyone remember Brian Mulroney?
So, should I cast my vote for the Liberals in hopes of putting them in power instead of the Conservatives? The NDP and Green don't stand a chance at being the party in power. Is strategic voting the right thing to do instead of choosing the party that you support?
And I can't stand people who bitch about the government but at the same time, didn't cast a vote in the previous election. Hypocritical morons.

Re: Green Party
Ummm......I hate to burst your bubble, but it was Dylflon, not Dyne.
And nobody said anything about Quebec separating....
Conscription pissed them off because they didnt feel it was their war being of French decent. [enter french joke here]. And they were usually put into groups with little or no other French-speaking people. No commanders spoke french, and no soldiers, except the french ones spoke french.
I would say...sadly as it may be, vote for the liberals. Yes they've f***** this country up, but look at the other options. NDP wants "secretly" to capitalize and privatize businesses, which means we might have to pay for servises such as a hospital.
The conservatives piss me off. Right in the name. Conservative. i dont want my country to be conservative pushovers who censor everything and have strict rules and what not. Considering i can't vote this election ( dam, misse out by a year) my opinion has little or no effect on anything whatsoever.

Re: Green Party
I believe it was the leader of the NDP who said that if Quebec holds a referendum, and majority vote yes, then he would consider letting them leave Canada.

Heh, my views are the complete opposite of yours.
I hate seeing this country under a liberal or leftist government. I can not tolerate the fact that marijuana and all that **** being legalized ("stoners" are the scum of society). Also I do not want gay marriages to be legalized, although kind of late for that now.
And you complain that our health system is lacking funds, though that is true, compare ours to every other country in the world (save a select few) and tell me who's is better. I still like the fact that if I am hit by a car, or shot, etc., I can survive without paying anything.
I am "right-wing", but lately I've seen two sides of the war in Iraq and am no longer in full favour of it. Though at the moment I am in favour of sending some Canadian troops to Iraq, so if that is what Harper wants, then good for him.
By the way... no one cares about western Canada, you guys got nothing on the East.

Marijuana was never going to be legalized. The talks were about decriminalizing it. If you get caught with some, you get a fine, this way our courts don't get clogged with stupid little cases.

But there is still the fact that the "Green Party" wants it legalized. I am against it. That was my point.

Uhh, the Bloc have. They haven't pushed it in their agenda but it's there. Everyone just knows it's a give in.

But France(the source of their french decent) was the first allied country to be attacked by Germany. Even though the cammanders supposedly didn't speak any french....it's not like they new that from vast experience. Conscription wasn't introduced until well after D-Day. They were basing their opinion on what had occurred back in WW1. But, even that war involved the French heavily. More frenchmen died in that war than any of the other countries.

'Privatize': To change (an industry or business, for example) from governmental or public ownership or control to private enterprise. The NDP is a socialistic minded party. They want to make everything more public. And were you joking about having to pay for hospitals? You do that now? That's how Canada works. maybe you were joking?

It sucks that we're too young to fully remember how good our health care system used to be. Have you been to an emergency ward at a hospital recently? Last year I severely sprained my ankle and I went to the hospital here in Kelowna. It took 6 hours for them to actually see me. That's just a petty example. When you're waiting for life saving surgery and it keeps getting delayed...then you'll have a different opinion.

I know this isn't the place to start a pot discussion....but I find it incredibly laughable how our country, which is so hellbent on drinking alcohol, has not yet legalized pot. The biggest thing has been the US's threat to close their borders to us if we legalized it. Decriminalizing it would be the first step though. ("drunks" are the scum of society. People who drink excessively and beat their wives and innocent children are better than a happy stoner? Please )

Well, what are we going to do if Quebec votes to seperate? Just ignore them and cause even more rift? There has to be a point in time where this seperatism issue gets solved. Canada imo would be hurt quite significantly if Quebec decided to seperate...but that just might be the future. Personally, I don't think the Quebec people know what is good for them. Turning a province like that into a Country overnnight isn't going to be easy. They have the largest debt of any province and we'd hold them accountable for that. I just don't think they have what it takes to be any kind of a country by themselves.

Well just so you know, I hate alcoholics as well. I hate women-beaters too.
My definition of stoner was someone who lives for weed/drugs. He has nothing better to do (or can't do anything better because he's just too damn stupid) with his life. He brings his weed to school and shows up to classes high. To him, everything is about weed. I see these kind of people often, I can't stand them. Any stoner/alcoholic/etc should just disappear so I can stop hating them so much.
Drinking is fun, but when someone mentions alcohol to a bunch of teenaged kids they sound like a Nuremburg Nazi rally. It's sad, really.
There's a line between having fun and obsession. I fear that weed will become too much of an obsession if legalized. It already is for some people.

Re: Green Party
I am kind of lose about your France vs. Quebec arguements.... But just remember, Quebec hates France. In their opinion, which is a supported one, France let them out to dry here in the new world. Quebec could care less if France gets blown to smitherines.
