Philosophy Thread
I decided to type out the philosophy I live life by, I'd be interested to hear any and all philosophies any of my fellow GT members live by.... here is my philosophy on life:
"Live life for the moment, don't fear the future, and do not regret the past. Because it eliminates the whole beauty of life itself. When you lose the beauty of life, what will you have to gain?
If you lived life knowing or fearing the choices you will make in the future, it eliminates any and all possibilities the mystery of life. That is why I don't like Psychics, I dont want to know what will happen, or what I will experience in my life. I live life for the surprise, and I'm happy with that. I can't fear what will happen in the future because I have no idea what my future brings. But there is one thing I have and hold most dear to me.
That is my ambition, my ambition to live the best life I could ever live. My ambition to grow into a successful web designer, but yet...I have no idea if that'll come true, I can only hope...For without hope....there is no purpose."
Yep... all written by me... lemme see some of yours guy's..

Re: Philosophy Thread
Interesting thread...wonder why no one has replied yet?
I live by a few things:
"You only live once."
and
"Live for the moment, for there is no promise of a tomorrow."
The first one is extremely important. You only have one life to live, so you had better make it worthwhile. No one gets out of life alive, so dont even bother trying. I'm a very optomistic person. You can ask my friends, and they'll all agree. I have an extremely positive outlook, because I'm always thinking "Things will get better. They always do in the end." No matter how bad things are, I keep the thought in my mind that they will get better. I have a couple friends who get stressed out so easily...over any little thing, and I just wish I could transfuse some of my optomism to them. Being optomistic is great. "Akuna matada, it means to worries, for the rest of your days."
The second quote sort of goes along with the first one. It's how my procrastination comes into life. What if the world ended tomorrow, and I spent my last night on earth doing pre-calc homework that I could easily put off till tomorrow? lol. I live in the now, and I like to procrastinate.

Re: Philosophy Thread
i agree with Vampy... on the "You only live once" thing...no need to explain it again..
But i believe that you cant stop the enevitable (sp?). It sounds lame, but think about it. If you think something bad is going to happen, it usually does. Kind of like Murphy's law ( If something bad can happen, it will)
Vampyr kind of took my responses though.....*shakes fist angrily*
There is this one that i dont get...i dont know how to explain it though...it goes like this.. " If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, is this how you would spend your last day"...its kind of a bringdown, because it makes you feel stupid.
And for the record, If this was my last day, i would probably spend it crying, or being sad or something....i never got that one...it just makes you depressed...

Re: Philosophy Thread
"Tomorrow's just an excuse away"
I try to live by this one. Many people put things off too much, whether it be dieting, school work, work, etc. I feel I achieve better things when I don't say "I'll do it tomorrow", because then it will rarely get done.
Other than that, just live life to its fullest. Have no regrets. And hopefully, I'll see everbody in Heaven, haha.

Re: Philosophy Thread
"There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He whole has felt the deepest grief is able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life. Live, then, and be happy and never forget..all human wisom is contained in these two words,
-- "Wait and hope."
-Edmond Dantes, the Count of Monte Cristo
I was deeply moved by that. I find it amazing how precise that is. It's so very true. I believe human wisdom is contained in those two words. However, my beliefs and philosophies fluctuate, so yeah..
"There's not stopping the inevitable"
I don't enjoy the idea of fate, and that quote basically backs up fate. I never did like the belief of having your life already planned with no way of changing it.
I agree with Vampyr on
"You only live once."

Re: Philosophy Thread
"We work hard. We play hard. *cue intro to Everybody Dance Now*"
-Simpsons
Well, besides not being gay, I agree with that. But I didn't come into it until university.
To me having fun is only worthwhile after working hard to earn it. In other words, blowing off steam only happens when you have done a lot of work to build up that steam.
Which is kinda like Joeiss. If I put off work, it usually never gets done. And besides, if I do the work now, it means more fun later.

Re: Philosophy Thread
I used to sit down and think about philosophy, why we're here, what we're trying to accomplish, but then I got smart and started enjoying life.
I live for women. If I'm feeling down, I talk to a girl, and everything's better (most of the time.) My motives are usually based around girls -- Why get good marks? To get a good job and get lots of money for the woman to spend. When I'm sitting in class, I think about what I'm going to do after school.
Basically, I live off the philosophy to make women happy, and that drive keeps me going, and going. I find testosterone quite an effect agent to keep your passion of life, if you're a man.

Waiting and hoping will get you a big cup of jack crap. You have to take real action to make a difference.

Re: Philosophy Thread
i agree on the "you only live once" and the quote of Edmond Dantes...i also agree on the "live for the moment" philosophy too...basicly, you live once, so do everything in your ability to do to acomplish what you really want to do. live for the moment - aside from doing everything you can to accomplish what u want, try to do it while doing something you want to do...so have fun while doing whats important. as for "wait and hope" thats the only thing you can acually do...because you never know what will happen.
i guess i live by all 3 of those...that is my philosophy...sometimes i just cget carried away and procrastinate too much...because i'm an idiot...or was an idiot, from now on im trying to follow those 3 philosophies.

Well if you read the Count of Monte Cristo, waiting and hoping was the only thing left for Dantes at times. I don't only agree with the wait and hope thing, but to some extent I also agree in the nonexistence of happiness and sadness.

Re: Philosophy Thread
I believe that we are masters of our own destiny. every step you take, breath you breathe, action you do, and word you say, changes the outcome of everything.
Just Imagine if you yelled at a kid in school, and he turned out to be a mass killer, yes he could have a brain disfunction, but that one thing COULD HAVE done it.

Re: Philosophy Thread
to sum up all of my philosophy, I'm basically saying I don't believe in fate, and I don't believe in pre-determination, and I despise psychics.
Psychics should be banned from everywhere. If we were to know what were to happen to us, then that would eliminate the beauty of "curiosity."
When we make split second decisions we make them... I don't believe in knowing the right choice..
