Default Saddam's Weapons of Mass Destruction are in...

Syria.

Quote:
A senior Syrian journalist reports Iraq WMD located in three Syrian sites

Nizar Nayuf (Nayyouf-Nayyuf), a Syrian journalist who recently defected from Syria to Western Europe and is known for bravely challenging the Syrian regime, said in a letter Monday, January 5, to Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf,” that he knows the three sites where Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) are kept. The storage places are:

-1- Tunnels dug under the town of al-Baida near the city of Hama in northern Syria. These tunnels are an integral part of an underground factory, built by the North Koreans, for producing Syrian Scud missiles. Iraqi chemical weapons and long-range missiles are stored in these tunnels.

-2- The village of Tal Snan, north of the town of Salamija, where there is a big Syrian air force camp. Vital parts of Iraq's WMD are stored there.

-3-. The city of Sjinsjar on the Syrian border with the Lebanon, south of Homs city.

Nayouf writes that the transfer of Iraqi WMD to Syria was organized by the commanders of Saddam Hussein's Special Republican Guard, including General Shalish, with the help of Assif Shoakat , Bashar Assad's cousin. Shoakat is the CEO of Bhaha, an import/export company owned by the Assad family.

In February 2003, a month before America's invasion in Iraq, very few are aware about the efforts to bring the Weapons of Mass Destruction from Iraq to Syria, and the personal involvement of Bashar Assad and his family in the operation.
Nayouf, who has won prizes for journalistic integrity, says he wrote his letter because he has terminal cancer.

Western spies: Syria storing WMD in Sudan

LONDON, April 9 (UPI) -- Western spy agencies say Damascus is smuggling missile and weapons of mass destruction components to Sudan so they won't be detected anywhere in Syria.

Since January 2004, Syrian President Bashar Assad has ordered shipments of Scud C and Scud D extended-range missiles as well as weapons components to be flown to warehouses in Khartoum, Middle East News Line reported Friday.

Intelligence sources said the Syrian shipments were placed on civilian airliners but authorized and directed by the Defense Ministry.

"There is widespread concern in the Syrian regime that Damascus will be the next to face heavy U.S. and international pressure to open its WMD facilities in the wake of the Libyan example," a senior intelligence source said.

"The Syrians have decided that they want to take some of their assets out of the country."

The government of Sudan President Omar Bashir was not informed of the Syrian shipments, which went to Khartoum as part of increased trade relations between the two countries, MENL said.

There are countless other news stories about how the weapons were transported from Iraq to Syria. I would post them all, but it's really not worth it since this will probably funnel into a debate anyway.

Anyone who knows about Iraq and Syria's past, would have predicted this before the war even began.

Wait....if a journalist was pretty sure the WMD's were in Syria a month before the US just had to attack Iraq, wouldn't we have at least looked there?

And this is my plea to you all, try not to make this thread into a 5 page thread which gets closed.

I think they sent guys into Syria before. But they only sent 5 people or something. I remember Jay Leno making fun of that.

Syria is a problem.. you can't just go in there looking for WMD, even if you're from the UN.

I hope the Bush administration doesn't metaphorically flip off the UN again. If they're going weapon hunting in Syria and Sudan it's going to have to be done by the books.

LOL, too true...

But seriously, something has to be happening with that information. We can't assume that they are doing nothing about Syria upstairs.

I have to agree. While I believe the UN to be a corrupt collection of former world powers who basically use their organization as a means to keep political and economic influence, the rest of the world views them as some sort of altruistic authority. In short, if the US has the UN behind them the rest of the world won't be able to continue to bitch and moan about how evil the US is.

Cut in the UN on some of the action, and watch France, Russia and Germany suddenly get behind us. Its a horrible thought to me to reward the UN for basically looking the other way on Iraq while collecting billions in cladestine Oil for Food profits, but at this point I think its a necessary evil.

Iraq, Syria... Who cares? Until Saudi Arabia, homeland of most of the 9/11 hijackers, the garden of anti-American sentimemnts, is attacked, I couldn't care less.

Yeah, I'm surprised nobody actually went for Saudi Arabia.

Except that the Saudi royal family had been a business partner with Bush senior and his oil company.

If you guys give me a little time I'll find the sources for that information.

We're in cahoots with Saudi Arabia. We use their military infrastructure. We buy vast amounts of their oil. Why would we attack them?

Just because Osama bin Laden and other terrorists are from Saudi Arabia doesn't mean Saudi Arabia is the one supporting them. If I remember correctly Saudi Arabia banished bin Laden long before 9/11.

Saudi Arabia is the holiest of lands according to the Muslims, so because Americans are in that holiest of lands and as some writers have argued are practically controlling the government with economy, it's no wonder that many terrorists are from Saudi Arabia.

I can get your back on that, Dyflon. Its been common knowledge for a long time that the Bush's family and many other American companies have done billions in business with Saudi Arabia.

But that in no way means that the government is supporting terrorism and in fact Saudi Arabia has the most strict anti-terrorism policies in the Middle East. How strict? Strict enough that Saudi Arabia has fallen victim to at least two terrorst attacks themselves from arab terror groups. Strict enough that the Saudi royal family has a price on their head. Sorry I don't have any sources for it, but both those stories were on national news not all that long ago.

Saudi Arabia has actually been one of our biggest allies in the war on terror allowing us to use their land and even build military bases there.
