Default Battlefield: Vietnam

Well I am officially hooked on this game, but as stated in Penny Arcade, I'm having trouble getting past the whole "Greater Internet ****wad Theory". Either your own teammates snipe you in the back for a stupid jet fighter or else refuse to pick you up when you need a ride.

Does anyone else have this game and have a server that I could join on a regular basis so that I am at least familiar with the people there? Thanks.

i have it, i like it. but it gets greatly over shadowed by UT2004. so i hardly get a chance to play since im always on UT04.

Dont have a server for ya. sorry. just keep tryin around. Thats really why most games have friendly fire off. its just no fun for anyone, and even if its an accident they get all pissy.

I remember blowing up a friendly airplane in 1942 because the guy got to it before I did. Me and my friend who was sitting next to me started laughing, and I realized the guy was sitting right across me (I was in a net cafe). Then he did the same thing to me...

BTW, I don't know any servers because I haven't played it yet. Sorry for not helping...

I havnt played Vietnam, but i play battlefield 1942, and its the same problem (im guesing) that yuor teammates are jerks and kill you for a ride. Alll i say is kill them back and run, like youve never ran before...only for lack of a better idea.

Many of the bf1942 servers have friendlyfire off. On the occasion that there is a tkiller and he/she doesn't get boooted, i just ignore or leave. I hate it when punks start shooting back at tkiller's....it just fuels it.

And with vietnam, does it have the same bug issues that 1942 had on initial release? I was thinking of getting it but I don't know if I can justify paying the money right now when desert combat seems to play pretty nicely.

i find it a lot less glitchy then Desert combat. and 1942 for that matter. Lot of things were fixed. it still has quite a bit of its own problems that need to be fixed tho. Something that coulda been addressed in a demo release if they wernt so stupid.

True. There is a huge glitch in Vietnam that they need to fix. Turning on AA/AF glitches the game like crazy on at least a 9800Pro. They address it as a known issue but yet they are too f*cking lazy to fix it. I have a 9800Pro and damnit, I should be able to play games good. But lazy dev's keep one of the best cards out right now from being able to play the game the way it was meant to.

How is that lazy? if they addresed it, they'll fix it. You expect them to release a patch once every day for each and every bug? no, they'll put it in the patch as well as as much other issues as they can so they can work on others till the next patch.

might as well just have em bend over for ya once a day too.

I'm not saying to release a patch every day or anything. But they have yet to release a patch to address the issue with the 9800Pro or anything else that might've happened. But meh, I think EA rushed the game out to try and compete with UT2k4

obviously. been said they rushed it to compete with 2k4 for a while now. 2k4 bumped thier release up a day ahead of vietnam. and EA moved the vietnam release up to the same day as 2k4.

And its only been a few weeks. theres no way they'd release a patch so soon

thats cuz thier noobs. and that was unplayable to almost everyone. not just a small percent.

They had known about the problems that patch fixed before the game even released. so they had been working on it before had.

Now the "official" BF:V site is basically hinting that it might be months before a patch is released for the game. If this occurs, I wont be buying anymore EA made PC games because of their extreme lazyness. (go ahead and flame me)

lol. well that happens when your in the minority. When not many people are having the problem they'll skip it or fix it when they get thier major stuff fixed.

Hell, UT2003 and UT2004 both disconnect randomly off the server for me, as well as some others. and they wont even reconize it as a problem. No other game does it. Quake 3 i could sit in idle on a server all day long. just learn to live with it really and hope the next unreal fixes it cuz it will use a new engine.
