SOCOM II
Thinking of getting the game. Some people got it today, but the game hits stores tomorrow. I have to add another $40 for a Network Adapter (It's about time) so that will add up to $90...
It doesn't stop there, a headset costs another $40...........
Well, I might not get a headset, but SOCOM II and a Network Adapter is all I need. So is anyone here getting it?
I am thinking of getting it if some of you guys get the game. But whatever. It got a 8.5 from Gamespot, 10 from PSM, and a 9.0,9.0,9.5 from EGM.

Re: SOCOM II
actually i think a new sony made headset has been released today or tomorrow that only costs 30
and do you have the router and network wire to hook it up? or you on dialup? (*wonders if the game is brandband only..*)

Doesn't the headset come with it? Or are they not doing the same thing as was with the first SOCOM?

Well, whatever, I'll wait for the headset to get cheaper. It would be awesome to have a GT clan.
And I have everything prepared (Router, Cable modem, Link cables, etc...).. I have gone online with my PS2 before, but that was with my friend's Network Adapter.
And yeah, it's broadband only. That's a very good thing though, which means no lag at all. Gamespot didn't say anything bad in their review. They mentioned how much better it was than the first SOCOM.
"This is what the first one should have been..."
I remember reading that on EGM a couple of issues ago.

Nope, they aren't releasing the headset with SOCOM II like they did for the first SOCOM. So you have to buy it seperately, but that doesn't bother me much since I can go on AIM and talk while playing with some other members and stuff.
PS: Absolutely no more cheaters this time. They made sure that cheaters wouldn't be allowed in anymore.

It would be cool to have a GT clan, but it won't work, just like the clan for the first SOCOM did not work.
And no lag at all because it is broadband only? hahahaha
That is one of the funniest things I have heard all day.

It says better clan system, so I think it will actually work out this time. And about the lagging part, it won't lag as much as other games. It's nearly impossible for an online game not to lag, but cmon, we're talking about all broadband users here, that has to be a good thing.
So, anyone getting the game? Say yes!
Oh and who's a good Sniper here?

Re: SOCOM II
I'm getting it, and I am a decent sniper....
And trust me, if you have played the original SOCOM, you know that there is some CRAZY lag... Just watch me if I play at nighttime. I have broadband, but at nighttime it is SHIET...

Re: SOCOM II
broadband only is good, would be better if the rest of the world had it tho. sux for thoes without broadband *points and laughs*
but no lag cuz its broadband is a VERY common misconseption. Dial up users DO NOT create lag. actually many can hang with high speed users as long as its stable. A stable 200 ping can sometimes be better then a unstable 50. Lag all depends on how far you are from the server, plain and simple. You can have a high speed connection, but if your too far away you WILL ping as a dial user would.
And about cheating, lol. it will be no cheating for a while. Are you new to online games? there will ALWAYS be cheaters. you can never stop it. Just wait till next gen with the hard drives and when Online games for consoles really take off with new downloads and stuff. You gunna see cheating even worse.
There are only ways to slow down, deter cheating. Never stop it completely, Someone will always find a way.

Yeah, I know about the cheating. People (assholes) eventually find a way to do it, but I heard Sony will ban each one that does, like how Blizzard banned all those Diable 2 accounts. It will be much harder is what I am trying to say. There probably won't ever be a online game with no cheating, but at least the security is much better than the first SOCOM where as you can just use a Gameshark and start owning everyone.

Re: SOCOM II
Well, I just got it. It is pretty damn good! I only had about 20 mins of good playing time though, because my internet sucks the big one after 430pm.
Good game

Re: SOCOM II
Well, I got about an hour of online play today. It was SWEET!!! There are allready like over 15000 players online, which is absolutely sweet! THe levels are really really big, and it is really fun trying to move around... They are so big, that I get lost sometimes (but that is partially due to the fact that I do not know my way around yet). Great game, go buy it if you haven't allready.

I might get the game tomorrow along with a Network Adaptor.
Anyone got any tips or other stuff I should know about the game?
