Soul Caliber Sales: Nintendo Beating up Sony
Soul Calibur II sales data thus far:
GameCube: 245,000 units sold in the US
Xbox: 205,000 units sold in the US
PS2: 200,000 units sold in the US
Looks like Link is kicking both Spawn and Heihachi's butts, which is always good news.
It's a little surprising that XBox is outselling the PS2 versions. Given that GameCube has been dubbed as the worst console for fighting games (rather unfairly) these sales are music to my ears. It's also maybe a reminder of just how powerful cool exclusive characters can be...
here are japans sales numbers (old ones at that!) I'm pretty sure nintendo is winning currently.
PS2 - 120,000
GC - 100,000
Xbox- 35,000*
(These are approximate figures)
and also thanks to http://www.gamecubenetwork.com/

If that news is from GCnetwork, then they copy-pasted it from C-E.
I was wondering if this was European sales... I heard the game was released this week.

the irony of it all. However people a joystick is MUCH better than a pad. I will be buying one for my GC soon.
And then buy CVS2 and SCII

Actually that data was stolen from Matt off the IGN boards, he didn't make a news story about it, but it's there.

Who cares who stole it from who. That's what society is....
But anywho
It's good to see that all it takes is a well known character and hype that lives up to what people claimed (about SCII) to sell good on the 'Cube. I wonder how long term sales will pan out...

I'm glad that Nintendo is finally pulling some numbers on games farther than other consoles.

I think the reason it's selling so well on the Cube is... well, there is nothing else worth buying on the system, so why not get it?

That is true actually
But it still doesn't explain why PS2's sales are that low... lower than Xbox... I would say it's because Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution was recently released on PS2, and that's supposed to be just as good, if not better than SC2... But we all know how poorly Sega's games have been selling...

True.. That and another reason/opinion why GC is outselling the other two is that have you seen any commercials for SC2 that doesn't end in GC or have link in it ?

I bought F-Zero GX the same day SCII came out...so there must've been other good games that are worth buying.
But remember also, only 1 other fighting (if you want to consider this a fighting game) game for the 'Cube, which is Smash Bros. Melee. SCII is the 'Cube's best true fighting game, so it makes sense to at least sell good.
