GameCube now a Hundred Bucks

In a move to spur sales for the holiday season and pretty much a last ditch effort at this point, Nintendo has lowered the price of the Gamecube to 99.99, which in an odd move competes directly against the price of the GBA SP now.

Amazon has now raised it back to normal. My guess is Nintendo saw the cut and didnt want anybody to cut this early, so they asked them to put it back. Tomorrow Nintendo is expected to have a confrence call from the marketing department and may announce the details of a price drop, and this will probably be the signal to lower prices, or set a date to.

Yet, even though amazon raised it back, a LOT of people got the cube at 99 while it was listed as that.

I think a cube is worth $100 if not more... but the GBA:SP... um

maybe I should sell my cube and buy anoher when MGS comes out... that's the only game I really care about coming out for cube in the near future

They will probably lower SP, though they have no reason to since Nintendo sells another GBA every 6 seconds (really).

Anyhow, I figured out why amazon raised the price from 99 to 150. Toys R Us is the store they run through for games, and this deal caused such a spending spree that TRU ran out of Gamecubes for amazon, so Amazon had to switch to its other partner: Target. TRU was the one that brought it down to 99.95, but Target has yet to follow suit, so the price went up to match target prices.

This is bound to bang Cube sales past XBox for sure worldwide, without any doubt. Maybe even in the USA...that is unless XBox follows suit with their own price cut soon.

Hopefully Nintendo will drop the SP to at least $79.99 and the GBA to like $59.99 and the GB Player to $39.99. Then hopefully they will gain more money from all the handheld playing "options". But then again, the SP is fairly new so I doubt they will drop SP's price for awhile. But who knows. Maybe Mr. Bob will see a handheld and a console for the same price and go for the console.....

$140 I'm still not willing to pay. I think the system is worth the money for sure...lots of good games, but I don't even have enough time for my PS2 and its game library. And then there's XBox.

I think it depends on how many TV's you want each person to use. If you want 8 people and only you and another person have a 'Cube and MK: DD, then 4 on each TV would work (I think). But if the heavens listen and you have 8 Players with 8 'Cubes, 8 Copies of MK: DD, and 8 TV's, then you can have some great LAN'ing. (Or even better would be 16 people)

You need a disc for every gamecube. You can use two gamecube, 4 gamecube, or 8 gamecubes. The more you have, the bigger everyone's person screen area is big.
