Thumbs up Full Spectrum Warrior

Wait... did someway say Halo 2? Who gives a crap. We have Full Spectrum Warrior!

New game developed by Pandemic Studios with help from the US Army, and published by THQ. Coming to Xbox in Q1 2004.

The game is a tactical, squad-based modern military shooter. It is taking squad based shooters to a whole new level. FSW will allow you to command troops like you never have before. Talking to a friend of mine who attended E3, and this game goes as far as allowing you to the different members of your squad cover a side of the building, or even cover specific doorways and windows, and from what I hear, all done beautifully on the Xbox controller. Step aside Ghost Recon

The US Army has had a lot of input into this game. supposedly there's even plans to give this game to every member of the armed forces, and that means me This will allow the soldiers to still think strategically, even on their off time.

Aside from that, the game looks amazing. I'm shocked by what I see. I truly can't wait for this game to come out. And guess who's doing the voice for the trailer? My hero, R. Lee Ermey. OORAH!

I think that news goes hand in hand with this.

I think the concept is great, but the gameplay better be pretty damn good to smash Halo. Will the bot control be similar to PD's? Or do you control everybody Rainbow 6 style?

Everything I've heard about the game suggests a control setup that hasn't been done before. Allows a lot more control of the squad than any game before, and they somehow made it work well with the Xbox controller.

THQ and Pandemic Studio's Tactical-Action Military Combat Game Nominated in Four Different Categories

CALABASAS HILLS, CA ? May 28, 2003
? THQ® Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) and Pandemic Studios today announced that their authentic military tactical-action game Full Spectrum Warrior for the XboxTM videogame system from Microsoft is the most nominated game from the prestigious "Game Critics Awards ? Best of E3 2003." Full Spectrum Warrior was nominated in four different categories including "Best Original Game," "Best Simulation Game," "Best Console Game" and "Best of Show" garnering more nominations than any other game at E3.

"We are especially thrilled to see Full Spectrum Warrior nominated alongside some of the biggest brands in gaming," said Tiffany Ternan, senior vice president of North American sales and distribution, THQ. "Full Spectrum Warrior's unique third-person squad-based, tactical-action gameplay depicting a modern urban warzone set itself apart at the show, garnering tremendous response among each of our key constituencies ? from retail to press to the analyst community."

Full Spectrum Warrior is based on a light infantry-training simulator designed by Pandemic Studios for the U.S. Army as a tool to reinforce Army doctrine and squad tactics among troops. Designed to simulate today's challenges of urban combat missions, Full Spectrum Warrior delivers a level of realism and accuracy that has never been seen in a military-based game.

Yes.

Comes out in July for anyone serving in the Army. CamFu doesn't have an Xbox, guess who's going to bribe his way to a copy?

bah, spring 2004?

Now it has to compete with the likes of Halo, and even if it's a killer app it won't get much of the spotlight.

Halo is crap. "Whee, look at me, I can kill aliens."

I don't think Halo and FSW appeal to the same audience.

I agree...but I think he meant that the hype surrounding Halo 2 will affect all other releases with similar dates

Oh, it won't? I guess the game is gonna flop then... If all Halo owners don't buy this game it doesn't have much of an Xbox userbase to work with.

But anyway, I am a Halo fan, and this game appeals to me... I guess that should mean somthing. I was more talking about the hype machine behind Halo hurting the spotlight for this game. Kinda like how Halo owned E3 and made many ignore pretty much everything else in Xbox's line-up. (cept Rare games because, er, It's Rare )

Halo was at E3? Could've fooled me Halo has been all that anyone's talked about since Microsoft bought Bungie and realized they had nothing else to sell the system on. Not my fault these people have no taste.

Let's put it this way, does the release of Halo affect the sale of puzzle games? No, two completely different games. Does the release of Madden 2003 affect the sale of NFL 2K3 and NFL Fever 2003? Yes. Halo won't affect the sales of FSW, because they are two different types of games.

Oh, and FSW is going to outsell Halo. I'm going to break into Bungie right before the game goes gold, and delete all the files. Mwahahaha
