Default computer passwords

I'm trying to put a password on my computer to keep other people from using it. The one I put on doesnt work, you can easily bypass it by pressing cancel. How do I make it so that no one can use my computer without putting in the password?

Also, does anyone know how to put passwords on programs and folders?

thanks

You have to use the multiple users feature. Except, you'll only be making one user file. When you make it, there should an option to create a password in order to log in and use the computer. Sorry for being so general, I don't know if it's the exact same on Windows but that's what I did for my iMac. You can also password lock your screensavers so if you want to return to your work you have to type a password to bypass the screensaver.

You can put a password on your screensaver. Easily owned if your server is on all the time like mine.

Wot OS?

98 Passwords are basically to sign in to a workgroup/domain or Windows .

It sucks for security. It basically has little.

If it's 2000/Xp then start, settings, control panel, user accounts, cilck your account, change password.

Password to what? Novell or somethin? Or u mean the one u type in next to user name on xp or something. A screensaver password is ok but if someone wanted to couldn't they just restart the pc Um...i dunno, maybe on ur pc u can set a password in bios so u have to enter it before u can move on...*shrugz* I dunno...

I once installed a special security program that would lock out whatever functions you specified. Well, I forgot the password and locked myself out of my computer. Even deleting the program and reinstalling windows didn't help. I think I finally had to reformat.

If you read his first post you would know that he wants it to keep other people off his computer. Now write me an essay about paying attention and you'll be pardoned.

I was just joking GameMaster while referencing Neo's post about being locked out of his computer.

Sorry for trying to be funny GameMaster and no I'm not going to write a essay for when all I did was make a bit of a joke and not because I wasn't paying attention.

Besides I've read this thread a number of times but just have not replied to this thread until recently.

You must learn not to take Gamemaster seriously, he's just a regular jokester.
