Damn!! EA always brings something new to the tables!!
Horray for a games that relays on the same gameplay mechanisms for 5 years now... EA=King of Innovation... updated rosters, tuned up graphics, and a few million copies sold.
EDIT: WTF is up with PS2 exclusive online EA?? I mean screw gamecube cause most people won't play your games online... but X-Box!! It has a better online service than PS2 till now.

Yeah, and Nintendo does the same thing with Pokemon...
Makes you wonder why they are the #1 and #2 plublishers in the world.

As for the topic, I like the idea of an owner mode... the only thing is, are games simulated or do you also get to play them out and do all the management stuff from franchise mode?
If it's only online on Ps2, I have to buy the Ps2 version... the tourneys are just a bonus, the main reason is me needs roster updates.

Well Pokemon sucks big hairy balls regardless of what the majority of people on this board say.
I just pointed out my opinion on my beloved publisher/game creator.

Your willing to pay 50$ every 10-14 months for the switching of names/players/ and teams. I really don't get people who buy the SAME damn game with little tweaks/tunes every damn year.
Do you know that EA is basicly ripping you off... things like this should be simply patched up if go online with the game... But with EA it doesn't work like this. When Madden 2005 comes out the Madden 2004 srevers will be terminated and you're going have to shell out another 50$ for a damn roster update.

Umm... yeah. I was just pointing out that it just happens that the best sellers of the two biggest plublishers in the world just happen to be games they barely update.

Um, wtf?
I was talking about online capibilities. I like to have all my sports games online because you can download roster updates. I didn't say "updated rosters are the only reason I'm buying the game"
Here are my main reasons:
1) The game improves every year. If it didn't improve, I wouldn't buy it, but Madden hasn't had one year of no improvement ever.
2) I love football
3) On my old Madden franchises I get a good 15-20 years into them, so the new Madden game is a fresh start for me to waste a mindless amount of time on.
4) Some years there are major changes to the teams that make the older version of the game obsolete. New uniforms, and new teams all-together. Also there are some changes to the way the schedule is set up, or changes to divisions. There is just some stuff you can't get in an older version of the game.

I see your point, on the GCN and Xbox versions, because you can't download crap. But on Madden (2002) you can download updated rosters for the year.
Also, how the hell are you gonna patch up huge changes to the game (See reason #4) on a Console? Ps2 and GCN don't have HD's, so that throws that possibility out for at least two versions.

Why will I buy Madden 2004?
-It's the best sports-gaming franchise in existance
-I'm a football fanatic and competitor
-I spend 200+ hours on the series each year
-EA makes enough improvements to the series each year to warrant another purchase (online mode with chat, online tournaments, roster upgrades, owner mode, new playmaker mode, etc.)
I know you're an EA hater...and I bet you're not even an NFL fan...your opinion is being heard and dismissed ( although you did make bobcat laugh ). If you want to talk about the game, then talk about the game...if you come in here just to rant "EA 5uXX0rZ" then do it own your own time...hey, why not use it as a pick-up line on girls? I'm sure they'd love it...

Me general attitude towards EA sucks becuasethey make the most lifeless games out there.
The pathetic improvement made in majority of their games is simply laughable... so maybe decent but they are all worth no more than a rental.
Let's not forget as an Ex X-Box owner, I gotta tell you they can't even port a game properly. Nobody is asking for extras... but I mean your working on hardware that 3x as strong.
I might as well leave you to enjoy this thread... why spoil the fun...

3x as strong? That's a good one.

This game sounds great! I hope that EA makes all of its sports games online for the PS2.
I think I might get Madden 2004... I mean, I was a big fan of the series back in the SNES and N64 days... And this year, I got really into the NFL (I watched like 2 games each weekend)... So I think I will give this game a try.
