The game looks wierd, but I am intrigued by the graphic style and art design. Cel-shading is really getting popular, finally, I think it rocks.

I think this will be a game where people look at it and say wtf?! and when they try it out, they become hooked. Kind of like Animal Crossing.

I think the screens are bad and are a cheap attempt for Wind Waker's art style.
It would only be fair for this game to fail miserbaly, since their so obviously copying Wind Waker.
The people look pretty ****ed up too, IMO.

Uh huh... and I bet you think that anything that is cel-shaded is a Zelda rip-off, right?

You know I think you are right, he said the same thing about MegaMAn Network Transmission, I guess to him:
Cel-shading=Zelda ripoff?
Anyhow, more info on the game.

The Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun (or Nikkei for short) reported in its Wednesday morning edition that Nintendo's investment in Skip, Ltd. has resulted in a new type of game with Giftpia (although oddly, the game's title is never actually mentioned in the article).
|
Well if I'm not mistaken, this is the same relationship Nintendo has with Square for Final Fantasy: Crystal Crhonicles which means that they get funds from the FUNd q thing that the old President set up before he left.
Quote:
According to Nikkei's English website, Giftpia is now set to support multiple players, which was not the case the last time we heard anything about the game. The article goes on to confirm that, like Animal Crossing, Giftpia really has no set goal for players to accomplish, nor does it have an epic quest to complete. It's an open-ended game whose course depends on the player's interactions with other characters.
|
Well, I never heard about Giftpia supporting multiple characters, but I don't know much about the game to begin with. I'm just curious as to how it will work.
So this is basically Animal Crossing with more sidequests or something, I think the game could be cool, I mean a relaxing pace with no real goal in mind is cool sometimes.
Quote:
Nikkei also notes that Skip was the first company created with money from Nintendo's "Fund-Q", and that Nintendo has provided half of Giftpia's 500 million yen (about $4.5 million USD) budget.
|
Well there you go, the article confirmed what I said before, I should start reading this stuff before I write.

No, just games that are released/developed soon after.

I don't think it looks much like Zelda at all, besides them both being cel-shaded. Completely different design in characters and stuff.

So, according to your logic, Zelda must be a rip off of any cel-shaded game that was released before it.
Now you tell me, does that make sense?

I think cel-shading is being used way too much. Granted, it is great, and it plays great, but all of a sudden there has been this flood of cel shaded games. Oh well, a lot of them are high quality games, so whatever.

No, only any cel shaded game that came out right before Wind Waker.

You mean like Dark Cloud 2 which was recently released for Ps2?

Probably not. I have feeling that the Wind Waker screens were revealed around the same time Dark Cloud 2 was in developement. So, my speculation would be that Dark Cloud 2 staff knew Wind Waker's new style was going to be a success so they quickly revised their style to be cel shaded also. I'm sure in the original sketches, Dark Cloud 2 was not cel shaded.
