My keyboard is here!
Late Xmas present, but my ultra ub3r l33t keyboard has arrived. The buttons are incredibly tiny, but it's not a big problem since I type with my fingers anyway. Can't wait to use it.
Tombor, where are you? We need to play.

Stop mocking me You know, some people type the right way, other use their index fingers and poke at the keys. Anyway...
Played a little with it. Made some typos, not too many. Best part of the keyboard still is the dances you can do in the lobby Ctrl + F#, #, and letters keys all give you a different animation. So cool.
Feels nice. One complaint, they moved the keys around. : does not require you pressing shift, even though you're used to it and do. And ', that damn '!!! Try to type I'm, and it's not easy. Why? the apostrophe is Shift + 7!! WTF???
Anyway, the Japanese letters on each key are neat, but they make it a little cluttered when you're searching for where they moved the ' to. Aside from that, thumbs up!

Yes, I imported mine. Cost quite a bit, more than a game. $69.99 + $18.56 for 3-day shipping. Yes, shipping on the bad boys is insane. But now they're closer to $89.99.
Sega probably only promised it for Japan. In the US, they weren't sure how well PSO would sell. That's why they had limited copies avaliable, as well as limited BBA and modems, and no keyboard.

a no win situation for them really, because who is going to buy it when there is no keyboard support or bb modem? not many, even though the game sounds cool as hell

Hmm perhaps they don't use many ' in Japan... wait a minute, they don't even use our letters...
Can't you change the layout??
Gekko you mean you don't type with 10 fingers?

No, the layout is how it is. Takes some getting used to, but hell, it's PSO, you don't need punctuation anyway.
And no, I don't type with 10 fingers. Remember as kids when you type with your index finger, hitting all the letters? Well I still do that, much more advanced way of doing it, can type 90 words a minute, but i still do that, yes. Mainly index fingers, even though I use my pinky for shift, and hit some keys with my ring finger and so on. I can type both ways, but this has always been faster for me (60wpm the 'correct' way). But it also made doing programming a lot easier. You use way to many <>?'()";{}/ and other crap like that to make it worth it to switch.

Hmm yeah there should be a way of using those >?<"{}[])( and stuff with all 10s...
A big deal, as long as it types fast.

Great! I'm thinking about importing a keyboard, but right now it's too expensive. Suposedly, MadCatz is working on one along with Sega. If the keyboard doesn't come out in one month, I'm importing it(won't have all the money before a month anyway). And yeah, the dances you can do in the lobby are pretty cool. Did you know you can kiss chicks in the lobby too?
PD: I hate you. j/k

Lol, I saw dancing and kissing. One guy kissed me. ;_; Sometimes being a girl character sucks.. oh well. It was cool.
Funny they'd use that layout. That blows. I wish they'd bring it out over here quicker though.. and change the layout. Technologisists screwed up the keyboard for a REASON! Bleugh.. now there's going to be dead secretaries playing PSO a lot. Oh well, more women is nice.
And if you didn't understand that last bit, take a history class for god's sake.
