I have a question about the online service. I know you pay 8.95 a month to sega and buy the modem for 35 but do you have to pay a connection fee as well?
Oh, and is this game as good as it looks?

Connection fee? Not to anyone but your ISP.

And I never thought this game looked good, so I can't help you there. 7 hours in, level 17. Made it to Ruins. w00t! So glad I didn't have to go back and find those damn pillars this time.

You only have to pay the 8.95 to Sega and your internet conection, nothing else. Also, about how good the game is, it's just a thing of tastes. Some people like it a lot (like me) and some people don't like it at all. I'd say it's a matter of tastes.

You also get the first month free. So if you don't like it you can cancel your "hunter license" and just play it offline. Visually its a pretty lazy port. Its exactly like the Dreamcast version with some blur effects on the bosses.

Like Nemesis said its pretty much a taste thing. A couple of my friends, me included, play it regularly (at least on DC I just got it for Cube) and at least one of my friend's absolutely hated it for Dreamcast. Mostly for its lack of levels and simplistic design. The Gamecube version corrects that a little with the cool Episode II levels. It plays not unlike Diablo or Gauntlet, so if you liked either of those you'll probably like this game. On the other hand if you like Diablo a lot you may just want to stick with that. Outside of the more creative, IMO, art design PSO doesn't have as many levels or any of the randomness of Diablo. Its also not free online like Diablo so....

I don't want to go off on some strange unbeaten path but yeah I like it. Its got great multiplayer on one TV too.

So I've noticed. They seem rather strange.

Anyway, I bought the DC PSO not long after its release (Tombor's fault). Played it a tad offline, didn't hook me. At first, there's a lot to learn, and I had no clue what I was doing, so I didn't play much. Then I finally got playing online (Tombor's fault) again after downloading and burning a bootable Japanese browser disc to setup the settings for my BBA, so I could use that online. The BBA wasn't supported (officially) in v1. Well after playing online, and asking some questions (like WTF is a mag?), I was hooked and didn't stop playing for 200 hours.

Now I'm online again on Gamecube (Tombor's fault), and hooked. I agree, it's a taste thing. You may like it, you may not. You may just not get it at first, and never play again. If all I did was read about the game, 4 of the exact same levels on 3 difficulties doesn't seem appealing, but I love it. Now with the GC version there's a lot more, and all the stuff I never experienced by not playing PSOv2.

Hmm... sounds good. I like Diablo, but I hate the demonic stuff in it.

I'll probably get it together with the BBA.
