Phantasy Star Online
Who has this game and is playing online?
After reading EGM's review, this is now my most wanted game. I would get this fortune but one big problem... I am sure you all know what that is.
PSO: $50
Broadband adapter: $35
Monthly: $10 but free the first month...
I don't have $85 or $95 to spare but I will be getting Metroid Prime for free... Actually, I payed it all off 3 or 4 months ago... So it's kinda free... This is a huge problem for me and I am dying to play this game. Can people who own the game and go play it online give me some details? Also, if I do get the game, it'll be awesome if we can play together.

I fell basically exactly the same way man. I would love to play this game, it looks hella-sweet, but I just cant afford that monthly fee. Maybe when I get a job this summer, but by then there will hopefully be some online Cube game out there with no montly fee...too bad THPS4 isnt online, I would have picked that up for sure along with a BBA...oh well though, whatcha going to do eh?

I'm still thinking about it. Chances are I will only go online with Ps2 though.

Cool, thanks.
I might get it... January I'll be getting a job and I will probably be able to pay off the montly morgage... I am thinking of not buying Metroid Fusion and Zelda Advance and instead, buy this game. Also, I entered just about every contest to win this game. My brother will be getting a new job soon so I guess I can get some from him... I just hope I get this game. Just that $10 fee kills it. I don't mind paying for the game and broadband adapter but the $10 a month just kills the whole idea. You have to use a credit card too and my parents will freak out if I asked them to pay monthly for a video game...(knowing that they already hate when I play video games.)
Got any suggestions?

Sorry dude, I gotta pass it up. I don't know if I have time for it right now, on top of everything else I'm playing. I'm playing MotoGP religiously, BTW. So I'm not going to fork over the cash for the game, BBA, keyboard, and monthly fee.
But I did love the game the first time through. Well, at first I didn't really like it. then I got into it and didn't stop playing for 200 hours.

Hmm.. the broadband adaptar is a must-have, you'll need it for every online game. But yeah that monthly fee...
Really bad move if you ask me.

well you can play online for free for one month, and if you like it then you can start paying to play online. i dont think the monthly fee is that much, i make that much in a week of allowences. to maintain servers is expensive, companies need to charge some kind of monthly (or perhaps yearly) fee. i'd rather pay a monthly fee for good running servers than pay nothing for crappy servers

What if you don't have the friends to play with... Or you hate using split screen?

You are just screwed
I think playing online would be a lot more fun than playing with unreliable people you know.

playing on spilt screen doesnt even compare to playing online. the ability to make friends with complete strangers and join together to make teams and kick some ass is the whole point of PSO. i couldnt care less about the multiplayer spilt screen, nor do i care about playing offline period, online is the only way to be with PSO.
