Shenmue II not coming to PAL boxes...
Read the article's here and here.
That wasn't a smart move. The reason Shenmue 2 didn't sell well in Europe on the DC was because the machine was nearing its end, or WAS at its end.
I can't help but feel sorry for the eager Europeans/Australians who were wating for this game on the Xbox.

Sorry if I'm a bit late...
I think M$ is a bit evil here.... and they only bought American rights anyways, right? So.. I guess it's kind of fair. Except for Australians. For DC it was very unfair IMO when they didn't release it here. Gah.

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is a PAL box? I see the term PAL used, but I have no idea what it means.

It's the territory type. Europe and Japan can only play PAL discs... while, North America uses NTSC. I think it might have something to do with the electronic frequency... or something like that. Hey, now you know.
So, when you get a console modded, you allow that console to play discs from both regions. That's why you could easily play a Super Famicom game on an American SNES, but not Discs. Whenever you buy a game, look for the NTSC marking, it's always on the box and the disc. For the other regions, it's PAL.
Not to make it too obvious, PAL box means an Xbox in a region other than North America.

Thank you. You learn something neew everyday. But I think that the region differential has more to do with marketing reason that discs as I needed to get a mod insert to play N64 imports too.

I don't know if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure that Japan uses NTSC. It's Europe and Australia that use PAL. I could be wrong though ...

ummm i looked into it some and it turns out that japan does use NTSC but not our NTSC it uses something called NTSC (J) i dunno what that means but thats why our japanese imports wont play on our american systems
