Default Counter-Strike

I have a burned CD with CS on it. I've got 4 keys and have used one so far. I can't remember how to change them though. I can't seem to run regedit. Anyway, the key may be screwed up. But whenever I try and log onto a server it says something about my protocol being different or something. I don't know what thats all about. I'm also getting messages saying something about LAN.

I tried the training thing and that worked fine. Playing CS is screwed up though. I remember I had it before and it let me play online all I wanted. But back then I had Half Life on the computer too. I don't know if thats it...maybe I have to have HL on the HD to play CS? I don't remember. I wish I knew more about games.
