A fad? It started like... In 1993... So if the little date at the bottom of the card is right, it's been going for almost 10 years now (And they recently released the magic online game yep)...
I play it (obviously) as do a couple people I know (and more I don't that they do... I'll have to play magic with them sometime (^-^ )
It's fun... it's not too complicated... it may seem like it at first, but once you get the hang of things it seems pretty simple, really... Yep... it's fun...

A lot of my friends play this game. I've sat in on a few but I still can't get the concept and why people find it so addicting.
So no I don't play Magic the Game... lol

I like collecting the cards and trying to build a big deck... and stuff... if you just watch, or only use a friend's deck, you don't get the full effect of the fun... Because like a big part of it, IMO, is actually owning things and mapping out strategies and building your decks around things... Certain cards, or certain types of cards (Direct damage, Counterspells, certain types of creatures, etc)... Yep...
I mean of course some people still wouldn't like it, but still

no no no. you see, it's quite simple actually
these cards are actually very technologically advanced because, you see, they secret an odorless, practically invisible form of nicotine that seeps into the bloodstream through the skin, you see?
so, you see, you start playing, and it's really hard to quit.
before ya know it you're going through 5 (booster) packs a day.
everyone looks at you like a loser, not to mention what it does to the body *hack* *wheeze*
man i need to quit.... yet, you see, i really need my magic fix
you see?
