I recommend saving the buddy list as back up, just in case it ever happens again.

Course you can... you can even connect to multiple usernames (e.g. if you have AIM connections for me_number1, happydude and myAIMthing, youi can connect to all of those at once too).
Supports multi-users too. Lovely bit of kit... if you use Windows...
I like it cos AOL/AIM records every single conversation you make... AOL currently have about 3 TB of AIM chat stored on their servers. None of mine thankfully

well last time i checked, trillian records every convo you have right on your computer. there's a button on the screen of the person you're talking to that takes you to all previous convo's with them..i'd rathar have aol store them, than have them stored on my computer.

Trillian only records the conversations if you ask it to...
And why is it better to have your conversations stored somewhere else? Everything personal I have is kept on my computer (using PGP 2048 bit encryption with a 43 digit pass code which would take roughly 8 billion years to crack), and nowhere else except my private POP3 servers.
At least Trillian gives you a choice. And I'd rather trust a bunch of freeware coders than AOL.
Mind you, open source chat clients rock even more than Trillian.
