Default Sonic to retire from Adventures

SOURCE - Electronic Gaming Monthly
ISSUE # - 157 (August 2002)
PAGE # - 50

ARTICLE
---------
Sega's blue, attitude-filled, sneak-wearin' mascot has gone on his last Adventure. But dry those eyes and buck up, lil' camper. He's not gone for good. Sonic Team is reportedly hard at work in Japan on a brand-new Sonic that will take the 'hog back to his roots. That's right - no more freakin' searching for jewels as Knuckles (gawd, I hated that). The gameplay will return to the tone of the original series, focusing on fast platforming action with no B.S. And to reflect the change in design, the game will reportedly drop the Adventures moniker it has clung to for the past few years. While a release date remains sketchy at this point, we could see the first fruits of Sonic Team's labor by the end of summer

Note that a guy at teamxbox posted this, and this has been confirmed by multiple memebers to be a "real" articles. Rumours have been spreading that the next Sonic game will appear on both cube and X-Box.

Sweet! Although I wonder if we'll only play as Sonic this time or if we can choose between characters or we play different characters on different levels

Wonder what its going to be call as well..... Will it return to "Sonic the Hedgehog" or will it be a new name?

I just want to see huge levels, with multiple ways to get through them...and I hope sonic gets some kind of a new design, but im sure sonic team will pull off whatever they have in store and make an exelent game.

i wonder what they'll do... if they love the whole adventure part of it. it will lose a LOT of interactivity unless they do it right. the high speed tracks and stuff are very uninteractive... boy this could be bad.

This is great news! If I had to go through one more treasure hunt with Knuckles I'd go insane.

Is this new issue of EGM out already? I've heard elsewhere that people already have it and there is 3 diff. covers. Mario, Link, and Metroid. I guess tomorrow I'll have to go look to see if it is.

The Chao's must come back! They are the main reason SA and SA2(B) kept people coming back for more and more. I owned SA2:B for a little while, and the little bastads kept me hooked for many weeks.

You take a bat, crack it once at the TV, and Voila! They will start listening to you. It worked for me.
