The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Anyone get the Morrowind for the Xbox? I've heard it plays pretty much like the PC verison, but it doesn't include a construction set like the PC version does. But then again it also doesn't have bugs like the PC version. 200 hours of opened ended gameplay, wow. I'm getting it later today.

I've been wanting to get the PC version for it. Don't know if I have enough time to play it. WTF? It's summer!
I might have to pick it up, in the almightly collector's edition.

Framerate is a little slow and the battle system takes some getting used to, but other than that it's a good game.

Picked it up for PC, no framerate problems obviously
Anywho, It's a weird game. I really have to clue what I'm doing, or who to trust. Like, I find this dude's ring, we'll call him dude1. Then I go talk to dude2, who said dude1 is stealing his money and hiding it. So I find it for him, only to find dude2 is stealing stuff from dude1's house, and putting it in the barrel where I found his ring. So I just helped out a theif, by finding 300 gold for him, but I only got to keep 100. The thing is, it didn't seem to help my reputation at all, so I dunno.
Then I walk into these guys' houses, and feel like taking their stuff, so I kill them, take everything, and leave. It's so morally wrong
I dunno, I guess this game will play out differently for everyone, cause I keep thinking I want to start over and try something else, but I'm not sure it's worth it, I never got caught murdering those peeps.
Anywho, how are the controls for Xbox? This seems to be a very mouse-oriented game.

Controls are okay, could be a tad more sensitive.
I think everyone eventually turns to thievery and murder. There was a poor widow whom I was trying to help, but she became unruly and I had to knife her. Then I stole the clothes right off of her lifeless body.

I'm getting the game for Xbox today, considering it will most likely run better on my Xbox than my PC.

These opinions are of the XBox version.
Morrowind is a game that takes time. Its takes time to come close to beating it, and it takes time to get adjusted to it. Once a player puts his due diligence into this game, there is no reason why hour upon hour will not be lost wandering in Vvardenfell.
As a console game, I've never come across anything quite like it. Its completely up to you to decide your own path and even if you have a path. A lot of diligence is required by the gamer to control their actions for the betterment of their reputation and their quests. The temptation to kill someone who has valuable things so that you can steal them is just awful. While doing so will make you much richer, it will also make the town hate you, they won't talk to you, and then you can't get the info you need or it takes you much longer to get it.
The game is just wonderfully designed with each region and town seeming to have its own style and archetecture. Herbs and roots abound for healing (although I haven't figured out how to do it yet) and there are SO many NPC's to interact with, trade with or train with.
I believe your repution score is more based on notoriety than little good deeds you do here and there. Don't expect the world to love you to death for retrieving stolen goods from a little boy. Basically I think that mission was an introduction to the choices you'll have to make. You could return the 300 gold and take your 100 gold reward and impoved reputation in the town, or keep the entire 300 and have the town turn against you.
In the end this game makes me lose track of time, and in the end thats the best complement I can give any game.
HIGHLY recommended

I just got the game for Xbox today, and I'm confused as gekko was/is. I've already started over around four times... and still don't know what to do. I should really read that instruction manual eh?

Here's a guide I found on the internet. It covers all of the main quests and some of the side quests. Should be fairly helpful to some.

*Possible Spoilers*
After using just the 3.1 part of the main quest of the guide it has already helped a ton and I'm off to a great start compared to me previous starts. I advise starting all over again if your very confused with finding your own path and all of the side quests. Set up your character and everything, then after you complete that take everything in the one room (Where there are no guards to see you take all the items, if there are guards or commons in an area where you take items they will report you to the guards and start attacking you in force) that leads outdoors to where the ring is that you should give to it's rightful owner. The room is filled with your weapon (a dagger) and some other stuff that should be useful for selling in the future. At first I tried to find my own quest, side quest, whatever. The one I was trying to do involved finding a man dead, and strip him of all of his possessions and try to find his murder and some other dead man reporting them to first man you meet. Anyway, that made completely no sense to me and I got confused way too many times and had to start over way too many times. I think that it is worth going back to the quest later, but first I advise you first get settled in a guild and have a sense of belonging before you try a side quest.
From the information I got from the guide you should board the Silt Strider, which is found across the bridge to the right of the screen and up the dirt path to the right. Remember to mention your friend for a special discount in the price of traveling. Travel to Balmora for a discount price. Then you will be able to find Caius there in Balmora, he is in the northeastern part of town how you look at the town when you first come to it off of the Sil Strider. The town is also fun to explore and other things while searching for Caiu's house or just looking around. Caius will accept you into the guild and everything is right again in the world of Morrowind.
I haven't got past Caiu's accepting you into the guild yet, and I don't plan to do anymore today after my tens of headaches. But there should be more to come.

You definitely shouldn't use strategy guides for this game. Just talk to people and do what it says in your journal. If you can't find someone then talk to people until you get more information.
I started over once because I didn't like my character. He was a stealth guy but too weak in combat. Now I'm using a more traditional sword fighter and am having a much easier time. Plus I joined the imperial legion, so I feel that gives me the right to search and seize goods in the name of the empire. Every now and then I'll run into someone whom I have to gut like a fish, but the violence could have been averted if they had simply cooperated with me.

I would seriously warn anyone from using a guide with this game. It ruins the whole point of it. I still don't have a main quest, buyt I've been playing for over 30 hours. The fun is in joining guilds houses, factions and discovering things as you travel from land to land. Its absolutely addictive.
So far here's my info:
Race: Nord (HUGE)
Guild: Fighter
Faction: Blades
House: Hlaalu
Bounty: 240
I don't know how to get the bounty off my head. I can turn myself in, but then I'd lose my bad ass Bonemold armor which is worth over 1,500 gold. I thought you could talk to the higher ups in guilds and houses to get it off your head, but I haven't found the topic yet. DAMN!!! Well, it doesn't hurt me too bad yet.
But I repeat, DO NOT use a strategy guide. Once you read where everything is, it turn all the adventuring from city to city into mind numbing drudgery.

Well, if you attack a guard, the game gives you options if you would like to: pay the guard off, go to jail, or fight it. I'm not sure if you pay the guard off if that takes away all of the bounty on your head or just the bounty you would have got from attacking the guard though... but it's worth a shot. After playing Morrowind for a few more hours, I now agree with The Strangler and Neo that a strategy guide is the wrong way to go. But I must admit when I used the first main quest information from the strategy guide is really helped me out, but other then that I would not advise using the guide any further.
After restarting my game nearly ten times, I've finally found the guy I like, which really helps in this game. I've also finally mastered the fighting system, for better or for worse. When I first started Morrowind I wanted to be as honest as possible, always return stolen money and get the not so best end of the deal, if the deal was honest. But now I find after getting a great sword that it is just too tempting to just kill a guy in his house and take all of his possessions. It's just too easy, and the rewards are great. So far I have killed two creatures and several animals. I'd say it amounted to a few hundred in cash. Oh yeah, I've completed two side quests and one of the main quests I believe. Still have hundreds to go.
