GameCube Adapter for the Wii U Announced

For all you Smash players out there, Nintendo has announced an official USB adapter for Super Smash Bros for Wii U that will allow you to use new and Old GameCube controllers

Yay, now all the gamers that are stuck on 15 year old hardware can finally stop complaining.

I'm perfectly fine with the Upad, the classic controllers and even the Motechuck, so I won't spend any money on this.

Its good this is an option, but yea I don't mind the Upad either. Been thinking about getting the classic controller, but meh I don't really need it. Upad works fine. Yea that Battery life sucks but im a few feet away from an outlet so I jut plug it in if it gets low while Im playing.

I hope the gamecube controller never dies, mostly because it's kind of amusing to see how long it can stick around for.

I'll just stick the Gamepad and the Pro Controller myself. I wouldn't mind being able to use one of my GCN controllers, but I can't see myself buying a dongle for it.

Isn't there 2 different things now?

- the USB adapter and Cubetrollers with a SSB logo on them.
- 3rd party Classic Controllers that feel like Cubetrollers, but that attach to the Wiimote. These come in Yoshi, Peach, etc. editions.

Seems like re-releasing GameCube controllers for 30 bucks

And offering a special edition Adapter + GCN + Smash Bros Wii U for 100 bucks

I'm stoked about the availability of controllers now. I forgot to buy a few this last cyber monday/boxing day.

For your information, there are a number of 3rd party adapters on the market now. The official nintendo adapter is more difficult to find in stores. The Mayflash gamecube controller adapter apparently works better with the PC for homebrew than the official adapter.
Both are pretty much plug-n-play with Dolphin but I have not tried this myself.
