Default Just bought and installed a media streamer (Ryan A.C. PlayOn!HD2 mini)

A week ago I was looking for a DVD player without a DVD player. Or a Bluray player without the Bluray. Just something that I can stick a USB stick in to load some files.
I have an old school TV, but it's big. Probably one of the biggest you had before they went HD and flat. I used to have a video out on my video card, but it broke down and my new card doesn't have one anymore (just HDMI etc.).
I don't want to buy an HD TV yet.

When I asked in a store, they pointed out something better: a media streamer. You can use USB storage or you can put it in your network so you can stream from your PC.
The one I have now (Ryan A.C. PlayOn!HD2 mini) reads all the files currently known to man. .mkv etc. It can even stream Bluray ISOs.

The sweet thing is that it comes with a remote, so I have all these options from the comfort of my couch. Also, it plugs into my surround system (with an optical connection). And it has a HDMI out, so it's compatible with my future TV.

Do you have any experiences with stuff like this?

No, but I'm interested in this type of device. Does it play .rmvb ??
I really like that file type for the compression and hardcoded subtitles.

My mega PC tower still doesn't have any cd drives, so I'm planning on getting a bluray slotted one of these days. Probably enough for me since any TV I'd be plugged to would have HDMI.

How much did it cost in US/CAN dollars?

Yeah, it apparently supports .rmvb (I have no idea what it is).

It cost €80, which would be... US $105 according to the converter. But in my experience electronics/games are always overpriced in Europe, so the price there might be closer to US $85. Just look it up.
The site of the streamer is www.acryan.com.

So far I realy enjoy the thing. It basically doesn't do anything my PC couldn't do, but it does it better. 5.1 surround sound in my living froom, a big TV screen, a remote.
The only thing that's causing me trouble is the subtitles... It only reads internal one and not external. I'm probably doing something wrong, because the box says it does support .srt and .sub.
