Post Phantasy Star Online 2 announced

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JaOKPISJWI

If you never played the original Phantasy Star Online game, you missed on one of the greatest games of the beginning of the last decade. The game has a really good atmosphere, an incredible soundtrack, an interesting story and managed to bring many things that were only available on PC MMOs to consoles. It did tweak a whole lot of things to do it and compared to a traditional PC MMO it was just a simplified version of it and some of the gameplay mechanics were actually more like traditional console games. But the bottom line is that it was fun and adicting. I feel incredibly happy to find out that there is a second part coming and was wondering if anyone else loved the original and would be interested in this one.

I'll bite, I get my PSO fix from using those fan servers of PSO that connect to the PC, GCN, and Dreamcast versions so it would be nice if they did this well. I know they haven't really been hitting home runs with recent entries, especially with Universe.

I saw a teaser video for this a while back - I'm am super excited.

I also really hope it has offline co-op.

PSO was probably my favorite game when I had a gamecube. I logged so many hours into that game and had a badass mage character, but I never did get a chance to actually play it online. Still had lots of fun with 4 player co-op though.

I'm a little more purist (and also dumb sometimes, I admit) about old games. I have a Sega Power Base Converter for my Genesis so at some point I'm gonna get all the original carts and play them.

Huh, I didn't realize this was only a PC game - I thought it would be on consoles as well.

Yeah, that's kind of a bummer since I played the Original on the GCN. But it's not really too bad. First of all, the graphics don't look like they'll demand a high end pc and it should be easier to patch for Sega.

And to whoever said they spent a whole lot of hours into the game, so did I. Man that online experience was awesome and I did spend a lot of time in multiplayer too.

Hopefully it has LAN play - I'd actually buy two copies if it did.

Been following this for a while now. All arrows point to the Free 2 Play option. At least that's what all the Japanese alpha testers are saying.

That's what a bunch of MMOs are doing now. Shit, even WoW's F2P until level 20 now.

That would be awesome. I really think F2P is the future of online games - microtransactions FTW!

I think even WoW will eventually become F2P, maybe after Blizzard releases whatever their next MMO will be a few years from now.

Well Age of Conan just went F2P today. Like half the content is disabled unless you either A) get a subscription or B) Buy the content outright. Pretty cool I suppose.

F2P sounds nice. It'll be nice to have this one and GW2 to play an never have to worry about a subscription. All my MMO needs should be covered. =D

I'm hoping the Guild Wars Trilogy is one of the daily deals during the Steam sale. Might finally pick it up.
