Default Monster Hunter 3

Monster Hunter is the next big thing in Japan. From what I've read/seen, it's some kind of mix between PKMN, FF and WoW.
You hunt monsters, alone or with 3 friends. They drop loot. There are hundreds of them.

MH3 was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive, but Capcom went with Wii instead. Good job there Ninty!

There are some new trailers out for it.

(My advice is to watch this one in full screen.)

Gameplay:

Did anyone play MH1 or 2? What's it like? Doesn't it get very repetitive?

Apparently it's just an offline PSO.

I guess I'll check it out.

Yesterday I finally got this game, together with a slick black classic controller pro.

So far it's good. I don't like the huge swords, as they're way too slow for smaller monsters. Does anyone know if there's a way to change equipment in the field? So far I only found that option in my house.

Edit: Ehm by registering the game at the Nintendo site, I got this for free:

It took a while before I saw what it was. I might be able to sell it on Marktplaats.

This game is so fun and addicting!
I have taken down 3 big (special) monsters so far. The graphics, the animation, seeing those dinosaurs all around me... it's awesome.

The environments are gorgeous, but they're chopped up into very small areas. Even Zelda OoT had bigger areas...

I've been using the sword/shield combo because it's fast and mobile. Now that my missions start involving bigger monsters, it's probably smart to start using bigger weapons.

Does anyone else play this?

I do. Just let me know when you can be online and we'll play.

Hm perhaps never. I don't have internet at home anymore.

I have almost finished the 3rd batch of quests (3 stars). Every new monster is awesome.

I've been using the Switch Axe as soon as I could. I like it because it's fast and powerful. Most of the time I use the Axe mode, but I'm trying to mix it up.

Barroth was a pain in the butt to defeat!! It took me at least 5 tries.

Perhaps I want to go too fast, while I actually need to grind more for the latest armor. But that's boring.

So I took out the Lagiacrus, after about 5 tries. He sure was nasty, but some max/mega potions and enough whetstones really helped.
So now I'm exploring the volcano level.

Anyone still up for this? I'll be online tonight and/or tomorrow.
