Default Games not worth the clearance price.

This subject is simple. Post the one game you saw at a clearance price and thought about buying it but then ended putting it back on the shelf because you remembered some reviews that said it wasn't good. In my case, Velvet assassin was at $10 or $15 at GS and I was considering buying it, but then I remembered two Escapist editors (one of them being Yahtzee) said the stealth system was broken and thus, made the game unpleasant. I think I also saw Wet and did the same thing.

On the other hand, which games you bought taking a chance to see if they were good and ended up really liking it. Enemy Territory Quake Wars is an really fun game that actually had me playing it for a whole day when Circuit City went down and sold it for $10 or $5 bucks (I just remembered it was absurdly low for its time).

So, share your experiences with other people, plz. =]

Games for clearance price I really enjoyed:

Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Battalion Wars ii
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Okami (although I'm only 3 hours in)
Zack & Wiki (ok, this was a used copy)

Games I didn't even buy for clearance price:
MadWorld (it's €7 now at the Aldi here....; I don't like violent games)
Little King's Story (don't have time for it)
PunchOut! (saw it for €5... I don't think I'll like it enough for the time investment)

Games I regret buying for clearance price:
The Conduit. ( Makes me sick every time I play it, must be a low framerate. Story is slow, action and levels are boring.)
Disaster: Day of Crisis (so broken, it's practically unplayable)

I've never not bought a game that I wanted just because of reviews. I'm a fan of making my own judgments on things instead of letting others sway my own decision of what I may and may not like.

That said, I have taken a chance on a few games that I've seen for sale while paying my phone bill that I ended up enjoying.

Fuel is a fun post-apocalyptic arcade-style racing game. I paid 10 bucks for 75+ vehicles, 14,400 square km, (5, 560 square m for you others). It got horrible reviews, but I think it's a fun arcade-y racing game.

Another I randomly picked up without hearing anything about it a long time after its release was Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. I've liked the Rainbow Six games since N64, so I thought I'd give it a go, and I still end up playing it with friends, now.

Most of the time I know when I like a game or not. But when it's a game I wasn't really interested in I try to go with reviews of editors that I know coincide with me in most of the things said. And that's the thing, Yahtzee pretty much says everything I'm thinking about games and I tend to agree with him on 95% of the things he says. And if the main gameplay mechanic of the game doesn't work as planned, I don't think there's a point in giving it a try.

Yeah, its tough for me to see a game at clearance price that I won't buy for reviews.

Its either that I had waning interest in the game/think it would be cool to try, but still not worth my time and money.

I'm sure it has happened several times, but be damned if knew the games.
