nintendo killing the xbox.
About Nintendo: Imanishi also said 2.23 million GameCubes were sold in the United States between its November launch and March.
About the Xbox: Officer Robbie Bach said the console sold 1.8 million units in North America in the five months after its Nov. 15 launch.
The Xbox's top title, the Microsoft-produced "Halo," has sold more than a million copies globally to date.
SSBM: has sold about 2.5 million.

Ah, hmmmm... Well, I guess Nintendo has most definately wrapped up that 2nd place worldwide
I first thought that if MS were to come anywhere near second place, they would need to hold onto the american market, and also a large chunk of the European market. Now that Nintendo is clearly selling more units than MS in all three regions, that's how I see it staying. You only need to see the Nintendo titles coming out from now on.
Oh, and SSM:M has yet to come out in Europe Get ready to see a surge in those figures .

this is from ign :
The first European sales figures from Microsoft were announced with the company claiming 500,000 units sold in that territory along with an 88% attach rate for the all-powerful Halo. That's 440,000 copies of Bungie's breakthrough first person shooter for those of you slow on the math. In fact, Halo was leading the pack of top selling Xbox games along with the four other titles that sold more than 500,000 copies. All tolled, the Xbox could boast more than 20 titles that have seen sales of 100,000 copies or more compared to the ten 100,000+ titles for the GameCube over the first five months of each system's US run.
I don't think Nintendo are having it all there own way the fact there not selling much software is a BIG problem and will make games makers turn there back on the big N again! 3rd party games makers don't care how many consoles are sold they only care about the amount of software sold and gamecube is doing real bad.

Well let them make better games then!! Is it N's fault that most of the GC games are crap?? They're working on their own games of course, but it's like the X-Box gets so much more games! While the console doesn't sell as well as the Cube!
And 500.000 after 2 months? That's pathetic compared to the 400.000 Cubes sold in ONE WEEK. There.

If Gamecube is killing the Xbox, then PS2 is wiping its ass with the Gamecube...

Well after this, I would say that the PS3 has a snowballs hope in hell of beating the next Nintendo console. The revoloution is coming....... maybe.

depends... If Ps3 has easy development, and a decent price point, and a one year head start, Nintendo might as well declare thier next gen system beat right now too.

I see the Gamecube doing exactly what the N64 did, riding along the outside almost like an entity in itself. It never ever seemed to be completing with the Playstation.
The Gamecube will do well, and be profitable, but I never see it becoming #1. Nintendo seems to be trying to keep out of the whole console war thing all together, which in a way is a good thing.
Nintendo's problem right now is that I believe that Nintendo rushed the launch of he Gamecube to keep up with the XBox. There just aren't enough games for it and look at how much time has passed since its release. Thats just horrible preparation.
I don't think Nintendo's games were pushed back for testing or development problems, I think Nintendo just bold faced lied to their public so that they would buy a Gamecube at or near launch because they thought all the great games would be arriving shortly. Now it looks like it will be close to a year after launch when games like SMS, Starfox and others will be released.
If I were a Gamecube owner who bought the system before the price cut (in the US), I would be quite pissed right now because you paid $50 more than everyone else who bought the console afterwards and I had no games for it.

Oh please, that part about 3rd parties not caring about the amount of systems sold is alot of crap.....why do you think the Ps2 is doing so good?? because of it's superior technology?? No, Ps2 is getting heaps of support because of their market share....I think if Nintendo or Microsoft had Sony's share, I think suppport would have been thrown behind them.
Soooo the amount of consoles sold has alot to do with how 3rd parties support a system.
If a system only sells a little bit...you think 3rd parties are going to throw their full support behind the system?? Naww I don't think so.
Please remember that a year hasn't pass with all three systems being out yet...and the European launch just happen a few weeks ago. I mean look at the Americian launch Xbox was beating Gamecube ...and now look, Gamecube has Xbox beat in America ( well atleast for now)....so all in all I would say it takes time to determine a winner....and in console wars it's usually 4 years.
And idiot you can't say that PS3 doesn't have a chance in hell in beating Nintendo's next console.....no one really knows what will happen in the next gen war.

If that's true... why Didn't EA Support Dreamcast? Why were no college sports games released on N64 (with a 50 Million userbase)?
Because the games wouldn't sell...
What Old Skool is saying is that the userbase is what developers look at, not the total amount of sales.
Why do you think Sonic Adventure was only ported to GCN??? Nintendo didn't pay for it, did they? It's because Sonic has no competition on Gamecube, and Gamecube fans are more likely to buy that game than Xbox or Ps2 fans. Sega barely spend anything to port it (and even got help from Nintendo advertizing)... and it became a million seller...
Now... why would Shunume 3 only be on Xbox? Simple, Xbox owners are said to be more hardcore gamers than Ps2 and GCN owners. So Sega wouldn't have to spend as much for Shenume to sell on Xbox.
Just an example.

Oh please Ps2 had the same problem with it's games...it took a while for Ps2 to get AAA titles....and Nintendo fans were like of oh look Ps2 launch sucks and now everyone is like oh ps2 rocks ..look at the games etc etc.( and it's true)
Now GC launched Ps2 fans are like oh look at the GC no real games ( which is sorta true) hahahaha their launch sucks.
But it takes time to get the AAA games out.....and if you think nintendo lied about the games after launch...welll you might be right...I mean why would people buy a system right away if they think the games they want are a year away?? So yeah, it might be lieing but I think every company does it in a way. I think
Oh yeah sorry about the double post ...but I'm not posy cramming so I don't think the mods will mind.

The difference between Sony's and Gamecube's launch is...
Nintendo had 2 competitor that were really threats.. Ps2 had one competitor and it wasn't even a threat. Ps2 didn't even need good games back then. But Nintendo does need them.
BIG Dif

Ahh I've been waiting for you to respond..hehehe
Now I got you I have to say that it your .......
Right in a way ....I guess it has to do with the userbase...as well as the market share...but I guess I misunderstood what Old skool was saying....unless you wer putting words in his mouths. j/k
And maybe Nintendo didn't get those games because of the memory problems with the N64....I mean don't you find it strange that EA didn't support Nintendo64 with any sports games and now annouces a ton of them for Cube ( don't tell that the nintendo userbase has changed so drastically in about one year)...I think that the lack of sports games from EA had to do with the hardware of the 64....not the userbase this time. SO there
