Xbox E3 News (Halo: Reach?)
Just so we are clear, this isn't the press conference thread or the thread for big games, but over the course of e3 a lot of games get announced, and let's be fair here not all of them deserve their own thread, but some of them are cool and putting the word out there doesn't hurt.
With that in mind this is the thread for news regarding the Xbox 360 and stuff.
The Pirates game looks super interesting and is an awesome concept.

E3 is right around the corner, and Destructoid has been hearing all sorts of juicy rumors. A lot of things are being said, and among them a very reliable source has informed us that Valve and Electronic Arts are looking to reveal Left 4 Dead 2 at E3 next week.
L4D 2 will see four different survivors battling the infected horde as they try to survive the game's four scenarios. The game is said to be set during the same time frame and locations as the first title, but the four new survivors will be fighting off the infected in other parts of the same locations. To us, it sounds a bit like Ada sidequests from Resident Evil 4 -- while Leon was going through his mission, Ada was running around the same areas, doing her own thing.
We're also told to expect new guns, as well as a variety of melee weapons like a baseball bat, axe, and chainsaw. Players should also brace themselves to come face to face with at least one new special infected "boss" character... something big. And fast.
If what we're hearing is solid, Left 4 Dead 2 is planned for the PC and Xbox 360. While the information we received was vague, the source had been reliable in the past, and the idea of a sequel to Destructoid's 2008 "Game of the Year" was too exciting not to share. If this pans out, we hope to see more -- at least in the form of an announcement trailer -- at E3 next week.

Really? That's the big rumour?
Basically an expansion for L4D, and the biggest rumour is something better than a Tank, with most likely shittier scenarios?

Oh gonna be a long, if not enjoyable weekend.
Halo Reach

Microsoft is going to announce a new Halo game.
The only information that we have so far is that it will be a prequel, and it is made by MGS + (probably) Bungie.
I blame Nintendo for this cling on to franchise stuff. Why not just make a new, exciting game. I mean Halo 2's single player was bust, and no one I talk to even mentions Halo 3's single player. I wouldn't surprise is Microsoft called up Bungie:
"Hey, Bungie...the only thing that makes people pay for Xbox Live is Halo...you better crank out another game so we can charge people for another year subscription."

How does Nintendo even come into this conversation?
Holding onto franchises isn't something new.
Disney had Mickey Mouse.
Warner had Bugs Bunny.
There are 23 James Bond movies.
20 some odd Godzilla movies.
It isn't even something that stays in the realm of video games.
Nintendo has been milking certain average/below-average franchises like Mario Party for money for a looooooooong time. Now some of their main franchise games get a whole new face and totally rock (like Super Mario 64 > Mario Sunshine > Mario Galaxy). Others fall between, like Metroid Prime > MP2 > MP3 (although you argue the controls in MP3 are big enough of an evolution).
I think even you would agree with me, being that we are both huge 007 fans, that the series had its low points (like the end of the Connery and Moore era). Same goes with Godzilla, the movies don't exactly vary much, and it sort of built this cult following because of that. But I don't know if I would compare movies to gaming.
This discussion isn't about Nintendo though...I didn't mean to derail your lovely thread. My comment was mostly out of jest. Every company seems to be abusing their franchise games with endless sequels these days. Part of me appreciates everybody's desire to experience a new adventure with Mario or Master Chief, another part of me thinks..."jeee...last 2 Halo single player games were crap. Why not let awesome game developer Bungie try making something new."
Edit: When companies try new things...we get games like Half-Life, or Pikmin. Games that are maybe a little outside the box for their time, and totally awesome experiences. The risk is high to develop and try something new, but seems like the payoff is good too.
