Natal for November 2010
Quote:
UK, November 11, 2009 - First precise details on the launch of Microsoft's Natal technology have emerged with the motion controller slated for a November 2010 release, to be supported by 14 launch games and to retail under 50 GBP (80 USD).
Details come courtesy of MCV and have emerged from a recent Microsoft tour of UK studios. Some 5 million units are also said to be being prepared for the release.
Natal was revealed at this year's E3 and is Microsoft's first serious move into a market that's become dominated by Nintendo since the launch of the Wii. There's no word on what the 14 launch titles will be, but it has already garnered the support of several key development studios, and is looking to rejuvenate the Xbox 360 console.
We went hands-all-over-the-place with it at Gamescom this year – head here to read our thoughts.

Re: Natal for November 2010
Natal is also supposed to extend the 360s service life too.

At the earliest, I would assume 2011 because no one has even hinted at a new console yet.
On the same hand, all companies are in an interesting position.
After 3 years, Sony is finally gaining some momentum with the PS3... do they squander it and launch a new console or try and build on it now.. or is it too little too late?
MS is losing steam, but they still sell a decent number of consoles, and has the most 3rd party support, would they want to give that up for a fresh start.
And Nintendo... well I guess perspective is the manner, everyone says there needs to be a Wii HD for them to compete, but of course they still sell readily, but still get no major outside support. Do they try and keep the Wii going... or do they embrace new technology.
It will most likely be a game of virtual chicken to see who admits defeat first.

Re: Natal for November 2010
I'm sure we'll see a bunch of new console shit at E3. Personally I don't even want to think about a new gen of consoles for another 3 years.

Re: Natal for November 2010
I'm hoping a new generation is still several years away. I don't think we'll see anything at this E3.
As BaB said, I feel like each company is in a situation where they don't want to take a risk which could upset the good things they currently have going.
I do, however, think we might be seeing a Wii HD sometime soon. But since a lot of people still don't have HD TV's, I don't think any company is going to want to push out a console that goes beyond what the current ones are capable of producing - it seems like overkill until more consumers have jumped to HD tv's.

Re: Natal for November 2010
I think Natal is going to be a lot less impressive than they make it seem. Too much fake AI.

Re: Natal for November 2010
Yeah the virtual boy demo was only impressive because they made it look like he really respondent to you. But it was all pre-determined.
I can imagine Natal work really well for fitness games. The rest... We'll just have to see.
All depends on the games.

Re: Natal for November 2010
They could probably do something cool for Natal with a game like Trauma Center.
Or something like Splinter Cell, and you have to make a neck breaking motion to break a guys neck, but you have to do it right or it doesnt work so it actually teaches you how to break a neck.

Haha.
I can already see the backlash from mothers and Fox news.
