Team Fortress 2
Not sure if anyone has pre-ordered the orange box, but I did and I can now play the beta of Team Fortress 2. Although I havent gotten to it because its taking forever to decrypt the files...if anyone has it we should definatley play together, im sure it will be awsome.

Re: Team Fortress 2
yea. i got my new GFX card couple weeks ago. 8800gts 640mb. and man am i glad i did. the game defaults me as every setting on max. and i fly through this game without a stutter.
game looks fantastic. i love the graphic style. theres a lot of moments that just make you laugh.
it is a beta tho, expect some bugs, altho i havnt seen many. really only 1 i can think of. which is very minor.
maps for me take a little getting used to, because the only one i know and recognize is 2fort. which looks great, altho i could do without the roof over the bridge. gets in the way of my sniping :P
my steam id, should be nullifedone

Re: Team Fortress 2
I was able to jump on for about half an hour late last night. A little earlier I jumped on to a 2Fort server for just to quickly try it out, and within only 3:00 minutes I racked up 7 kills and 15 points as a sniper, getting "critical hit" after critical hit, all while talking on the phone with my girlfriend. Perhaps the sniper is too powerful?
That seems to be impression thus far -- some classes are much more useful than others. The sniper, demo-man, and, somewhat less, the scout seem too good.
But I'm sure my impression will change... It was fun!

Re: Team Fortress 2
more i see the more i feel its actually pretty balanced. because it feels like a different class is more powerful at different times.
spy seem to be pretty powerful at times. and will get somewhat annoying if theres too many of em.
it really depends on what the other team has to counter you. if the sniper is allowed to stand there uncontested then hes going to rack up some kills.
demo man is quite powerful if the other team is in a group in a hallway. otherwise i find if you get up close to em, they'll have a much harder time hitting you. because they have to hit you directly then instead of just lobbing the grenade near you.
scout i've never seen over powered in any way, only takes like 1 hit to kill em. hehe

Re: Team Fortress 2
Ahh the spy moments brought back great memories from TFC. I love looking at a fellow teammate and thinking how odd he is acting for his class, and how he seems to have an odd interest in following me! Shooting him to make sure and revealing he's a spy is so gratifying.

Re: Team Fortress 2
Amd Turion x2 blah blah,
1 Gig Ram
Geforce Go 7600
Windows Vista
I found an article about this ussue on the steam support pages, but none of the available fixes actually fix it for me...oh and just today I realised the problem isnt restricted to just TF2, no steam games will run, they all just pop up with that error. Ive heard around the forums that whatever is happening might have been caused by the latest steam client update, but so far nothing I do seems to fix it. In any event, I have been able to play steam games fine on my laptop before, so its obviously something that has happened since the last time I played a steam game, which I dont know when that was...

Re: Team Fortress 2
might be a driver issue with vista. i have vista. but i had to work at getting bioshock to work for a little bit at first... this ran right away with no problem, but maybe it was because of something i did for bioshock

Re: Team Fortress 2
Yea, if it is a driver issue I would love to find where I can get updated drivers for my graphics card. If you go to Nvidias driver update page it dosent list any drivers that support the Geforce go 7600.
And people said ATI's driver support was bad...

Re: Team Fortress 2
ati does the same thing. you dont find drivers for a specific card. you find drivers for that cards series. and all the cards in that series are in the same package.
goto http://nzone.com/object/nzone_downlo...etadriver.html
and try the beta drivers for your system. those are what im using.
