Default PC trouble time again

My PC suffers from fallouts. I think it has something to do with the temperature, because it usually happens on a hot day and/or when I have my PC on for a long while. I'm trying to find a program that shows the CPU temperature so I can be sure.

Sometimes my PC just stops. It's probably no direct software problem, because it's like the power is just cut. The weird thing is that the LED light keeps burning when it falls out. The only way to get my PC working again is to cut the power totally, wait till the LED stops burning and then I can boot it up again. When I do this too soon, it usually falls out again. So that's why my guess is temperature.

Some say it's the motherboard that's causing the problems. Apparently it happens to more motherboards of this type. Some say the battery might be old.

Any ideas??! Thanks!

Anóther problem I have: sometimes my internet suddenly stops. It happens all of a sudden, nothing works anymore. When I try to reconnect DC++, it says my 22883 port is used by another program. Who knows what this could be? It sounds like a program causing it. Another option is something a friend told me, he lives in a building close to mine, same housing organization. He had a similar problem and it was caused by some of his neighbours assigning new IP-adresses or something. Basically they were trying to put 2 computers on 1 connection and that caused other PCs' internet to stop.

At the moment I'm scanning my PC for viruses and malware.

I use SpeedFan to see the temp of my CPU and harddrive. Overheating might be the problem. Not too sure about everything else.

Ok I'm using SpeedFan to show my CPU temperature. It gets really hot when I play games etc, yesterday I was at 82°C.

So maybe a better fan will solve the problem?

Ay, no wonder it's been turning off. If mine gets to 70 it goes ridiculously slow. I try not to let it go above 60. Had overclocked it but set it back a bit to lower the heat it was producing. A new fan would be a good idea. I should probably get one as well. As it is, I keep my AC on so my comp doesn't overheat during the summer.

My CPU is an AMD Athlon by the way, they're 'supposed' to become hotter.

Does anyone have an idea about the internet failure? 30 minutes ago I was chatting with a friend when all my internet stopped working, except for the connection with him. That was killed too when I tried to reconnect MSN.

The system has recovered from a serious error.

BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : 8D34EABC BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 804F0C8E OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

Has happened at least 2 times now, it's scary. I better get that new fan fast.
