I really want to see this movie but it doesn't appear to be playing anywhere near me.

They were offering an early viewing of this movie at UCLA a month or so ago, so my friend's and I got to the venue and waited along with the rest of steadily growing crowd for about two hours until someone in charge came out and told us they were going to cancel it.

Nevertheless, I'm excited to see this.

Saw it last night. The first theater I went to sold out early so I ended up running a few miles in the rain to another theater to catch their last showing. Even that was packed, but I managed to get in. The fantasy elements were less than I thought there would be, but the human side of the movie was very strong and enjoyable. Some people were shocked when they realized that they would have to read subtitles. Silly movie-goers.

Its a foreign film right? Is it dubbed or subtitled? That's a real big factor for on whether I'll see it in theatres or wait to DVD.

BTW, I think its a mass release on the 19th, so those people (such as myself) who can't see because nobody's playing it should be able to catch it then.

Yup, Spanish with subtitles. Not a regular movie-goer myself but I watch a ton of foreign films on my tiny 14" screen and was a bit of an adjustment to read them on such a large screen. Glad I wasn't sitting too close. And American actor Doug Jones (who'll be voicing Abe Sapien as well as playing him again instead of DHP in the next Hellboy movie...and the Silver Surfer in the next Fantastic Four) spoke in an older form of Spanish not used today.

I planned on seeing this last weekend in NYC where it's playing, but we went to the wrong theater. Argh...I still realy want to see it, and I'll go up to Philly if I have to, but maybe it'll play a bit closer starting on the 19th.

Saw it yesterday. Superb.

Both storylines were so strong that they could ahve held up on their own.

Simply an excellent movie.
