It turns out that Lik Sang broke some major laws that not only earned them the scorn of Sony, but pissed Sony off to the point where they sued Lik Sang into oblivion. So what was this grave infraction committed against Sony that not only threatened the very foundation of this giant multi-national corporation, but warranted destroying the lives and careers of a group of dorks running a gaming website? Simple: they committed the mortal sin of selling Japanese PSPs to European gamers. Oh no! Not that!

For launch day, preorders will be filled in the order they were received, and those who had a preorder but are denied a system on day one will receive something for their troubles. GameStop will give those unfortunate customers (as well as unfortunate employees) a free used game or DVD valued at $19.99 or less when they eventually wind up purchasing the system.

Sony's makes the best portable CD players, and at a point in time they made decent cheap headphones. Other than that, I don't really purchase Sony products. I was pretty upset when I heard about the rootkit thing, however. It's moves like that that really help defend the downloader. I understand the need to push copyright protection, but what Sony did was sneaky, uncalled for, and I think Sony should have known they were going to get caught. Windows isn't that poor an operating system. At any rate, not much you can do, Sony are too powerful to crush. Maybe the PS3 will flop. Maybe blu-ray will crash and burn.

Not that I don't hate GameStop, cause I do, I worked at one for a long time and there's a lot more to hate than most people realize. But, Sony's the one that can't fill their estimated shipments. Gamestop's gonna take the fall for it because they handled the preorders, but at the end of the day this is nobody but Sony's fault.

In future I forsee Gamestop refusing to offer preorders for a manufacturers system unless they sign a contract with a hefty penalty. This is twice Gamestop got burned in the last two years (but the first time around they were at least warned).
