Mother F***ker...
My PC died last night. The power supply and CPU fan are busted, and worst part is my CPU got COOKED when the fan went. So now I am in need of a new PC and I need one NOW (I also use it for work).
Are there any suggestions for store bought PC's, like HP, etc.? I hate that I'm basically forced to do this but I have to and its driving me up a wall, but I need to still make a good decision. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Mother F***ker...
why not order the one you were thinking of getting anyway?
and what do you NEED it for? you can get a pretty cheep one that should do what you need for work (and home if its not gaming)

Re: Mother F***ker...
I thought about getting a cheap one for just work, but because I'm planning on getting a new gaming rig anyway, it seems like a couple hundred that I could better use in buying my more high end PC.
After reading reviews on cnet and comparing warrantees and service contracts, I'm leaning towards blowing my credit wad at the PC wanted all along from cyberpower (GREAT warrantee and service for the price). I figure once I go into debt, I might as well get what I want and spend a little more. I just didn't want to have to charge it, thats all, but all my liquidity is tied up in my engagement ring at the moment. Horrible timing.
Well, time to bite the bullet, vend over and take a $2,000 credit card charge in the pooper... but at least I'll have an SLI Monster rig

Re: Mother F***ker...
Go get that powerhouse! But don't get a stupid oversized case. Everytime I see one of those at a LAN party I want to punch the person using it!
i.e.- Something like this huge red one http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/cfgam2.asp?v=d

Re: Mother F***ker...
Yeah, I never liked the Vento to begin with, but do like a large case because they have better air flow. Besides, I don't go to LAN parties. I'm a homebody.
Well, here is the build I was thinking of...
Quote:
$1839.00

CPU: (Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 CPU @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 2x2MB L2 Cache

MEMORY: (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Corsair XMS2 Xtreme Memory w/ Heat Spreader)
VIDEO CARD: NEW!!! NVIDIA Geforce 7950 GT 512MB 16X PCI Express Video Card

My thinking is the following:
- I can always SLI later since I have the MB for it.
- The Core Duo CPUs from 6600 to the Extreme 6800 are pretty much identical construction. The difference is in cock speed, and I can always have it overclocked later if I want to, and its still a beast now.
- I went with the upgraded HD solely bacause it had double the cache of the 250gb.
Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Now Cyberpower and ibuypower both have almost the exact same price for each system, plus the same Hot Rush price ($109) and warrantee and customer support. So who has the better rep? Which name brand should I trust?

Dell is the piece of **** that just melted on me last night. I'll never go Dell again. The amount of times I had to try and piecemeal that system back together in the 2 1/2 -3 years I had it is rediculous. Not only that, but it was almost $2,500 at the time nd it wasn't close to being a high-end machine. It ran everything, but thats it, it just ran it... and crashed... a lot.
We'll se how things turn out with Cyberpower. I've heard some horror stories mainly about processing time and delivery, but overall the reviews were pretty good. If they do a decent job for the bargain prices they offer, I'll never go anywhere else again.
BTW, check my latest and last PC thread to see what kind of rig I bought...

Wow that's strange...I've had 4 dells and have never had a problem with them. Maybe I'm due for an explosion or something.
