Anything funny/strange happen to anyone lately?

Yesterday morning at about 5:00, I was rudely awoken by my cell phone going off. I groggily reached over and grabbed it and managed to force out a very confused "Hello?". This girl is on the other line and is asking me about or for something. So I say "What? What do you want?". She repeats herself but I still don't understand. This happens at least four or five more times.
I was really out of it considering it was five in the morning so I figured I couldn't understand because my cell phone has bad reception in my house. So she tells me to call that number on my house phone. I oblige and call her back and that same vicious cycle starts up again. It was at this point that I realize that I have no clue who the hell this person is.
Mind you, I had been on the phone with her for about three or four minutes in a redundant conversation consisting of her wanting something and me not being able to figure out what it is she's saying. Also I remember her saying at one point along the lines of "Please? None of my friends are here (or: all of my friends are gone or something like that)"
So I finally muster enough brilliance to ask who this is. She said her name is Julia which was a coincidence because I happen to not know anyone named Julia. So I ask if she had the right number and who she was looking for. She asks, "Is your last name Rinkle?"
As many of you may know, this is indeed not the case. I inform her of this and she apologizes and promptly hangs up. I was so tired at this point and was kind of angry at the time because it was my first day at a new job and I didn't want to be tired.

Anyways, the moral of the story is:

If you're going to phone someone at 5 in the morning, make sure you have the right number.

Funny phone stories? I have 2.

First a guy from my classed called me for some assignment. I took the portable phone to my room. The guy was gonna call a frien dof me. After we hung up, I hear the phone ring again. Somehow I expected it was my father who wanted the phone back, so I tried to be funny and picked up with "WHAT IS IT?"
"...... euh..... I don't have his number!" Yes, it was the guy again and I scared him.

When my brother and a friend were home alone, they had to do a crapload of chores before they could play on the N64. When they were finally done after an hour, the phone rang. My brother angrily picked up with "YES?!" Was some sweet lady who warned us that our goat who escaped.


Next time I get one of those telephone interviews on me, I'll tell them I'll give them my father. Then I'll pretend to be my father and use a female voice. I wanna find out how long they can hold their laugh. After that I'll give my mother a male voice.

Oh, people calling my number when they want my (bastard good for nothing) father, while I've had this number for 5 years now.

I got barred from the arms (my dads favourite pub) for 2 months and we found it completely amusing that he's been going there for 15 years, and has been kicked out once, and thats all. And his son has been going there for 2 months and has already been thrown out and barred.

Fell alseep one night with my headphones on, with my iPod on sleep timer. Happens to me every now and then as I tend to listen to some music before going to sleep.

Anyways, early in the next morning (5-6am) I wake up and the iPod had been turned back on accidentally...the first thing I hear is:

I don't take kind to telemarketers, but at the same time I have a sutble respect for what they do, seeing as how a job is a job. Rather than just telling them off and hanging up, I tend to see what I can do. I've done the seinfeld, put the guy on hold for a really long time, thing.

I've also had conversations akin to this:

"Hello this is so-and-so, we are interested in selling you this, are your parents around?"

"No, I'm sorry. They're hanging around in my meat fridgerator. I'll have to tell them to get back to you in a few days."


And, if all else fails, you can always try to have phone sex. I've done it before, sometimes they won't hang up right away. A little roleplaying for the customer.

Man, I just started working at Blockbuster and I've already had to deal with crazy people.

Like the girl with ADHD who kept asking for movies that aren't even out in theatres yet.

Was on the bus the other week, and I noticed a man talking to the bus driver. Not out of the ordinary, but he had been standing there for a bit more than normal. I went back to my book and looked up at the next stop to see he's still standing there, I also notice at this juncture that he has a broken left hand/wrist. The man and the driver start yelling at each other (over what I'm not sure.)

The guy begins demanding to be let off the bus even though we weren't at a stop. The man then walks over and pulls the "emergency stop" lever, jumps into the driver seat, and starts pummeling the driver with both hands. I pull out my phone and dial 911, the guy is still wailing on the driver, and I see both the driver and the dude fly towards the door (the diver threw the guy off of him.) The driver opens the door and tries to push the guy out, he succeeds, but gets taken out with the guy in the process, the two continue to grapple in the middle of the street (this whole thing has lasted less than 10 seconds) before the dude ran off down a side street. I made sure the driver didn't need any medical assistance and hung up with 911.

I love the CTA.
