Default IE 7

Anyone using it? I just downloaded the beta for the family PC and it seems pretty good. Has tabs, supports PNG, and a nice new look. Firefox seems less 'necessary' now. I really don't know much about IE7 though. Maybe some of the security problems that plague it's predecessors still exist? I'd love to hear reviews from full-fledged PC users.

i had tried it on another computer, it seemed very buggy. and i had thought there was some thing about it that was a pretty big security leak. Plus it seemed slower then other browsers.

theres no point in really even trying or considering it tho when theres Firefox and Opera. seems IE is just copying the ideas of other browsers after all the other browsers have had thoes features for a while.

I might take a look, since I still use IE. Where's the link?

Tabs made my life easier.

Plug-ins revolutionéd it.

I'd download IE7 but that's work. And thanks to Firefox I don't have to work.

I downloaded it. My main gripe will be when there are security flaws in the software as IE is the most popular browser people are using. It will eventually become vulnerable. As a browser I find it fast, and I like the tabs too. And it has a nice look to it.

By the way, does anybody know if there is a way to disable IE from Windows XP Prof? I want to do this for my work so people only use Firefox, but from what I'm reading there's no way to remove the software completely.

There is a way, i have done it before, i forget how tho.

Easist way, is having firefox set to default browser. delete the IE icon from the desktop. and get rid of it in the start menu. they can still get to it if they know what they're doing. but most will just open up firefox.

and what you mean WHEN it gets security flaws? the new IE already has them. some pretty big ones that had to be fixed. and many others. from what i read a while ago, its still running on the normal IE engine.

Yeh that doesn't suprise me that it already has flaws. That's why it said downloading update or something when installing.

Hmm I was hoping to completely remove IE from Windows XP, but I think that's impossible.

I am thinking to install the software through group policy, maybe there is a parameter to make the MSI package make it the default browser. Then again I don't think Firefox comes as an MSI package, I will have to make it

its possible as a said. some other programs wont quite work correctly tho since they run off the ie engine, and then otherstuff you download sometimes needs it too. so probably not the best thing to do. altho you can.

Firefox and most browsers ask if you want them to be default when you start them up. i'd just remove the links to IE. see how it goes. or... put an IE link on with the ie icon.. but link it to firefox. muhahha.

I've tried removing IE6, and it just defaults back to IE 4 or a really old version, I forgot which one.

I couldn't get it off the Windows XP OS. Like you said, because IE has internet settings that other programs use.

Yes I could trick my staff too.
